Was in our local Homebase today, looking for manly things (that is things that manly men like me would use, not men who are butch) , when I spotted one of those charity book tables. With more hope than expectation, I rummaged and found the Tabletop Games publication "Ultra Modern Army Lists and Organisations". Snapped it up for 50p.
It dates from 1980 and offers such notes as "Some 150 M1 Abrams have now been delivered although none has yet found its way to Europe", "Chieftans are all at Mk 5 standard" and "the recent invasion of Afghanistan" is in the Russian section. Best of all, the Israeli, Swedish, Danish and Dutch armies are still down as using ... well, I'll let you guess.
Takes me back!

I think I've got a copy of that somewhere. The main problem as far as the organisation charts are concerned is that the writers have cut the establishments down in order to make the units easier to field. But it's difficult to sort out what's missing and whether or not the absence makes a significant difference to the unit's fighting ability.
