Having decided to use Pendraken's rather neat "three-men-in-a-trench" models for my dug-in panzergrenadier platoons I realised I needed dug-in versions of my MG and mortar stands.
Couldn't find anything commercial that was what I was looking for so I've decided to scratch-build a couple of MG nests.
Happy with them so far but the proof of the pudding is in ... the painting :)
... and a couple of further shots of work in progress
Looking good thus far
I agree !!
Cheers - Phil.
Oddly enough I find myself in the position of needing dug-in troops for next year's project, so I shall be following your progress with interest. :)
Finally got them painted - not brilliant shots as taken with a cheapo compact camera but should give the general impression.
I'm happy with them ... and in the end that's what matters :)
Couple of shots from the front.
Couple of shots from the rear and overhead
looking great! :-bd
They've worked well.
I was thinking, depending of the numbers of these you wish, you could send them to be cast in resin to someone ?
Really good stuff I.
Cheers - Phil.
Are the figures fixed or does the position take a standard base?

The three men in a trench model is a one piece casting. The three riflemen are just head, shoulders, upper chest and rifle. Ideal for clumsy sods like me who want more painting and less supergluing fiddly bits and pieces to their fingers :)
I think herts' wants to know if the mg's are fixed to the dug in bases ;)

Ah, that makes sense. I blame posting while only just starting the first coffee of the day :)
All of the dug-in stuff is fixed to the base, rather then stack one base inside another I thought I'd do a little diorama for the heavy weapons. You probably can't see it in the photos but the MG crew without the crate on the base not only have a sack beside them but also a spare pair of boots. You'll have seen from the command stands I rather like doing that sort of thing.
Boots? @-)

Yes, that was what I was driving at. My German 2cm FlaK are made so that the bases will fit inside their made-to-measure emplacements. However, I think I'll go for the fixed crews for this next project.

I had a spare Pithead German artilleryman with binoculars and wanted to put him in the Pendraken Stuka Zu Fuss but he looked way too high up to be standing on the floor of the vehicle so I chopped off his feet so he looked a little less like he was levitating. The "spare" feet became a pair of boots for the MG stand. Waste not, want not and all that!
Nice job
take care
Andy
Those are pretty - very nice work
Finished one base for Kohima. This will occupy Jail Hill or Garrison Hill eventually. One guess as to which terrain system it's built for.

KAllistra hexons!
That's my new swear phrase, but wasn't she in Ally McBeal?
No, that was Kallistra Flocked-up. :P
