my dear old granny bless her 98 years old, went in to a GW branch the other day :o to get me my Christmas pressie as she put it ( I knew it was paint and brushes as she gets a list of what I want from my mother or wife) , so heres the conversation with the young GW employee.
Granny – I am looking for these paints and brushes for my grandson.
GW employee – certainly, let me have a look for you, what are you painting at the moment.
Granny – (slightly confused by the question) nothing.
GW employee – we have painting tutorials if you need any help.
Granny – (getting a little irritated) I am not painting anything sonny and I don't need any help thank you very much.
GW employee – no problem, would you be interested in coming a long to a gaming night then.
Granny – (now getting annoyed) I am not interested in coming along to one of your gaming nights, its my grandson that's the gamer and not me.
GW employee – ok then that will be ££.££.
granny – (handing over money) here you go then.
GW employee – (handing over change) still cannot interest you in the painting tutorials or a gaming night then (persistent little bugger).
Granny – if you do not stop haranguing me young man I will stick those dice tins over there somewhere on your person and you will need more than a mirror to get them out ! :-bd Good day to you.
Granny leaves shop,
The end.
Couldn't stop laughing when I found out, wish I'd been there. =O

I wonder if the 'assistant' got a smack from his manager as he obviously failed......CLASSIC !!

Priceless ;D ;D ;D.
;D ;D ;D What a star!
And why do I think this actually happened..... :-\
;D
Go supergran!
I'm the first to admit that GW are very good at bringing youngblood into the hobby but I wasn't aware of their foray into recruitment of the older generations.
They'll never learn though, many a time have I walked into a GW store intending to buy paints and brushes only to walk out empty handed to escape the sales techniques. when I say I need a pot of scab red, somehow this triggers the GW employee to assume that I want an army of orcs. =)
Off course you do! Everyone knows scab red is greenskin eye colour =)
This is why I've stopped going into GW shops...that and the stupid names they have for their colours!
'Scab-red' indeed.
she is a very feisty woman and very independent and as she says I still have all my marbles ;D
Our local model shop sells the colours - but with civilised behavior. :)
I suppose you could argue that the 'assistants' are only doing what they've been told to 'do'.
But...Stroll on.
Cheers - Phil

But then I argue people should never leave their brains outside when entering the workplace.
For all they knew she could have been a 'mystery shopper'
I doubt the standard GW troll actually knows anything.
The times when people with a brain worked there are unfortunately over.
Even up here in Edinburgh the last halfway decent chap left about a year ago. Then they tried the "sex sells" approach (the only tits the average 12 years old gamer will encounter) and she seemed quite competent but again not there anymore.

I've experienced a few of these in my time in retail. You learn to spot 'em as soon as they walk in. ;)
