Hi.
I'm new to this forum. Years ago, I spend a lot of time on GW stuff (mostly the 40k univers), but also on Blood Bowl. When Warmaster came out, I got the idea to make a miniature version/travel version of Blood Bowl using warmaster miniatures. But I never got around to do anything about it.
With the Blood Bowl rules out as download on the GW homepage, I thought about doing something about it. But the warmaster figures available on ebay are really pricy (at those prices the figures should be made of gold). So even if I could get the 40-60 figures I need, they would cost me a minor fortune. So I abandoned the idea again.
But the I found the pendraken miniatures. Game on again :-)
Unfortunately many of the fantasy range miniatures doesn't have a picture in the online shop, so I will appreciate any suggestion on which figures I can use for the different teams.
For the dwarfs team I though about using the Hill Dwarves Berserker with 2 axes (FHD18 http://www.pendraken.co.uk/FHD18-p4939/). I think that they can be used as base for both blockers, runners, blitzers and slayers. And then an epic 40k ork battlewagon as a steamroller.
For the halfling team I thought about the halflings with sword (FH2 http://www.pendraken.co.uk/FH2-p4917/) and some tree elementals (AC27 http://www.pendraken.co.uk/AC27-p5146/). I found some pictures of these miniatures in the forum.
And that is about it. There isn't any pictures of the ratmen (skaven) or dark elves. And I haven't found any suitable miniatures for high elves, human or orcs
teams.
I will apreciate any suggestions. Thanks :-)
Hi H welcome to the forum
if you use the seach option on here you might find somew pics. there were definately pics of ratmen floating around on here the other week. MY internet keeps dropping out otherwie I would do it for you.
The issue with the humans is that they are snaller than the other ranges unless you use the barbarian clans.
Hello Mr H.
Welcome to the forum.
You are right, pics sell.
Welcome on board old chap.
Welcome to you and all GW refugees.
You will find this place warm, dry (especially some of the humour) and relatively safe. But a little short of washing facilities.
Hope you enjoy your stay . :)
FSN yep pics SELL !
Welcome to the forum 'H'.
One day....In the distant future probably, I'm going to try and twist Leon's arm into letting me make a handful of 'Not Bloodbowl' figures.
Cheers - Phil.
Hello there
QuoteI'm going to try and twist Leon's arm into letting me make a handful of 'Not Bloodbowl' figures
28's or 10mm? Not sure 10mm would be viable (though I would love it) as you'd need 4+ pose per team and only sell 3 or 4 of each.
Hi guys.
Thank you very much for the warm welcome :-)
@Maenoferron: Thanks. I found a picture of a few of the ratmen. They are just not very-blood-bowl-ish (they have both shields and weapons, which needs to be removed). And with such a large range, there must be some miniatures which fits my needs.
@fsn: yes, when you need the miniatures for something specific like me, pictures are importent. The hardest part must be sculping the miniature. Not the picture part. Even a crude photo taken with an old Nokia phone, would be better than no photo :-)
@howayman: I guess I'm GW refugee. Never though about it like that :-)
I love what GW does (except the LOTR stuff), but they have just gotten to pricy. Building and converting miniatures are fun, but I'm such a slow painter, so a lot of my miniatures are unfinished, which reduces the number of miniatures to play with. So I never got to play that much.
I don't know how it is, to convert 10mm miniatures (adding helmets and shoulder pads), but I know they are fast to paint (at least my epic 40k army was fast to paint). So hopefully I will be able to make some BB teams fast and play with them :-)
I have already been looking in the forum for pictures. I didn't find so many pictures, of the miniatures I'm interested in. I think I found a picture of the witch elves in the forum, but the miniature looked a lot like the amazon miniatures. Does that sound right?
Anyway, thanks for your input. If I can't find any pictures, I guess I must just try to buy some miniatures, and see what they are like. An entire Blood Bowl team at around £5.40 isn't that bad :-)
I also love the Sci-fi range too. A miniature version of necromunda might be cool too :-)

Exactly my thoughts too Matt....
Not sure it
would really be viable from Leon's point of view...Seeing...As he's mentioned before, he
really needs to sell 300 + of each figure.
But, I don't know why....The idea of 'Travel, Not Bloodbowl' sort of appeals to me. ;) ;D
Maybe something for the
distant future.
If I
ever get the time (HAH !).....Possibly something I'd sculpt as a personal project.
For now....Remind me guys....What were the different types of players in a team. Catcher, Chucker, Blocker, Lineman ??
How many figures made up a squad/team ?....My copy of Bloodbowl is still somewhere here at Techno Towers...But exactly where, I'm not sure. ;) ;D
Cheers - Phil.
You can get your own copy right from GWs homepage: http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m2350017a_m780049a_Blood_Bowl_Competition_Rules.pdf
But there are linemen, throwers, catchers, blitzers, runners, blockers and of cause all the star players :-)
And some teams have types specific for their race.
Mantic's Dreadball looks to be a viable alternative to Blood Bowl.
I also found Elfball (http://www.impactminiatures.com/index.php?option=elfball) as an alternative to Blood Bowl. But I don't know anything about it. I only just browsed the rules (which are free to download).
Whay about Trollball and Elf Cricket that you used to be able to get for Runequest?
On this page you can find some of the pendraken fantasy models with picures!

You have here some pendraken pics

Maybe Leon could do another "not" Kickstarter (like the Mongols one)? That way it would test viability of the line and see if it was worth doing.
Just my ten pence.... I'd back it for sure though! ;)
