Outstanding draftsmanship. The size of the hats does make you wonder if the artist was embellishing the truth a little, however.  :-\

Very useful thanks. Great Italian Wars is one of my favourite periods ( for god's sake I've got it in 28mm, 15mm, 10mm, 6mm - oh yes I also have a 2mm Spanish force).

The guards in saiones are similar to those in the Hogenberg plate of the guards (http://warfare2.netai.net/Renaissance/Hogenberg-26.htm).  If the papal legate was not in Breu's print it would have helped to determine if these are papal or imperial troops.

Interesting how much more detailed these are compared to other sources.
The renaissance realistic art movement did wonders for wargamers.
