What?...Full of people from the Netherlands?
Seen it before but it is still a brilliant piece of street theatre and a superb piece of advertising. Hats off to them.
Brilliant! :D

Full of crims trying to evade an outmoded police force.

Maybe if Runcorn police wore floppy hats and had a drummer they would be more successful

Not being very cultured....I don't think I've ever seen the painting.....Wossitcalled then ?.....Or did I miss that in the 'blurb'.
Cheers - Phil.
Rembrandt's "The Night Watch". Each face is a portrait of a real member.

It's called "De Nachtwacht" and is by Rembrandt. The English translation of the title is "The Night Watch." It is apparently properly called "The Company of Captain Frans Banning Cocq and Lieutenant Willem van Ruytenburch preparing to march out" .... you can see why they call it The Night Watch :)
It is housed in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam which had been closed for building work for several years and which used this flashmob stunt to advertise the fact that it had re-opened.
When I was living in Melbourne, they had a Rembrandt exhibition with paintings coming from the Netherlands. My wife spoke to one of the Dutch curators who had come across and after talking about this picture he said it is the one picture that would never leave the Netherlands for a foreign exhibition
Thanks Gents !
Aha.....Though I haven't got it nearby....I'm assuming that this picture was the inspiration for the cover of Terry P's 'tome' "The Night Watch" then ?
Cheers - Phil.
