Good Afternoon,
Some of you may know me from my posts here, but I am launching a new venture to provide a range of wargames services including a painting service aimed at the smaller scales and I am pleased to announce that the website is now live at:
www.montyswargamingworld.co.uk
although you do currently need to type the link in as search engines are not yet seeing it. We also have a special opening offer on platoons for TooFatLardies' Chain of Command (although they would also suit many other games)!!
Please do stop by to see us and please feel free to pass the website address on. And any questions or requests - email me at morr2212@yahoo.co.uk. I look forward to hearing from people.
Kind regards,
Richard
Had a look at your website using IE and there's a few problems with it. I can't see all the menu options at the top of the screen and the text in the News window is cut off at the bottom and on the left hand side. But what I can see looks interesting.
Seems to work ok on Firefox
I'm using Firefox and it doesn't display properly for me either ...
... even when I remember to turn on javascript for the various elements on the page - doh!
Love the "Monty" rat :)
As a time rich/ cash poor geriatric trying to live within the means afforded by a company pension I'm not going to be in a position to use the service - barring a lottery win! - but it looks good and I wish you well. Other than the formatting of your web page I think you've got it pretty much nailed.
Many thanks indeed, chaps. I'm at a bit of a loss on the webpage - too many people have now mentioned it for it to be isolated and yet it looks fine to me in Firefox and Chrome. It's beyond me so I shall log a query with the support chaps and see what they say. No doubt it will be something really simple that requires the whole website to be rebuilt from scratch!!
Richard
Good luck Richard. :)
Works fine for me with Waterfox. :)
Good to see you on Saturday Richard, and best of luck with this!
The website is unfortunately a bit squiffy for me as well, the title headers are extending off both edges of the page, and some of the pics are overlapping the text. I've attached a couple of quick screenshots to show what I mean (click to enlarge):

Yep me too
Many thanks again - the screenshots are especially useful. I'm waiting on an answer from the IT people and I'll see what they say but it may just be a case of moving the top bar in a bit and making sure any text close to the bottom of a text box is not right at the bottom. If anyone spots any other problems, I really would appreciate a heads up as this is my main marketing tool and so needs to be right.
Kind regards,
Richard
Still having difficulties as described above. Top bar extends beyond both sides of the window, text is lost on the left side of the window. This from my IPad.

Works well for me, but then again, I'm a Chrome freak.

I think the word "Chrome" in that sentence may be superflous :P
If the site is standards compliant it should work in any modern browser tbh.
Younger spawn used to produce websites professionally while at school/ uni. I had a number of requests to load every browser I could lay my hands on and look at a site and report back. I know more about cascading style sheets than any human being not actively developing websites should be required to know ;D
Hi Richard,
All looks ok from my end, good luck with everything,
kev
Hi Richard. I have the same problem with Firefox - left hand text off-screen, particularly with the bookmarks sidebar in place.
All the best.
Ray
Right, the IT chaps are still contemplating what the issue might be but I have done some reformatting on the offending sections and I hope it is now all showing okay - it is for me, but you never know!! I really appreciate all the good wishes and the help with getting the website right, if anyone does find any other issues, please do let me know and, if you can give me specifics, I will see what I can do.
Kind regards,
Richard
Works properly for me now.
HURRAH!! I am clearly an IT genius.......................or VERY lucky and my dice give the lie to the last. Perhaps bashing random keys and using some choice words does really work!
Many thanks for the report.
Richard
Sorry to rainon your parade rim, but I still cannot see the menu on the left hand side of the gallery page!

They menu's are OK now for me, and working fine when I click about the site. There are still some pics over the text, but only marginally now. The one shown in my previous screenshot is better now, and there's this one as well:
Great, thank you, I hope I have now tweaked this one out. It seems to be a case of just allowing plenty of space around images and text boxes to allow for variations in browsers, but I shall see what the IT chaps come up with.
Many thanks,
Richard
That one's fixed now, looking good. The previous screenshot of the trees pic is still iffy, it could do with knocking down a touch closer to the building to keep it away from the text. I'm not really up on web design, but I think the placement issues come when the images are dropped on top of things, as opposed to being confined within a text box or similar. Or I might have made that up... I'm not big on web design...! :D
Looks OK now. And Monty's great.
Okay, more tweaking done. Hopefully the gallery navigation bar is now sorted - if not, I'll look to move it somewhere else.
Leon - not sure which picture you mean by trees and buildings, which page is that on?
IT response is that all looks fine to them and they can only think outdated browsers or cached pages/browsers - I'm not convinced. If it was only one or 2, maybe, but not the numbers I have had. I actually reckon Leon is right and tightening up text/image boxes and removing all overlaps may be the answer, what joy awaits!!
Many thanks,
Richard

It's on the scenery page, right hand column at the bottom. The trees pic wants shunting down only a couple of notches, just to get it clear of the text above it.

Should be fixed now.
Many thanks,
Richard
Spot on, all fixed!
