I've just put up some details and pics of an armoured canal boat I scratch built for use with my AVBCW forces. She will mainly be used with BKCII scenarios but might make an appearance with CoC and IHMN games as well. Hope you like it.

I like it an awful lot.
The colour scheme is perfect (there is a Western Approaches one, but that was early forties). Love the deck and roof colours too.
Not sure about the mortar slot, on riverine mortars in Vietnam the replacement was open, would it work in a confinded space like that?
Overall a great model, beautifully executed.
Glad you liked it Lemmey :). Re: the mortar, an awful lot of it is artistic licence. I chose a roof purely for the look and the mortar is almost poking out of the roof.
Wicked Steve. Like this a lot. ;)
Its taking an awful lot of willpower to 'stay away from' VBCW in 10mm with inspiring stuff like this.
My other thought about the mortar is...
Declare its on a turntable, or you will only be able to fire the way the boat is facing! ;D

I know, bit of a design oversight ;). I did think of having a ship like turret but thought this would be overkill, so opted for MGs instead.

With the WWI, SCW ranges etc it is so easy to do this in 10mm. With the addition of the Inter-War vehicles now it is even easier to do. You really should give it a go old boy ;).
Really nice, and totally bonkers at the same time! ;)
My cousin has just started doing AVBCW and lives on a canal boat - must send him a link!
Have to say I like both concept and execution - nicely done.
Hello Steve J
Very, very nice. VBCW is really open to coming up with lots of varied kit.
I've found that the Peter Pig 1/144 WW1 Gunners with Lewis guns are really handy for scratchbuilding.:-

A little smaller than Pendraken but not too bad - I'd buy these sort of things from Pendraken but alas and alack they are not made :-\. Things like parapet gunners, etc, hmmm - could've been handy with the WW1 rejig, maybe I should suggest it, oh already have :D :D
Very good work.
Cheers

Love it :-\

The boat looks great! :D
I'll have to have a look at those Peter Pig gunners.

They also make pilots which I'm using for VBCW tank commanders, etc

Liking this lots Steve 8)
Love it, Steve! But as someone who used to live on a narrowboat, it's missing the floral jug and mop on the roof. Did you decide not to go all-out silly and station someone standing at the tiller? Ah, I remember the journeys in the pouring rain...
Possible scenario: guard a convoy of coal barges?
Apologies Steve.
Obviously missed this when it was first posted. :-[
Like that lots !!...Great stuff ! :-bd
Cheers - Phil.
Glad you like it Phil :).
At WeeWars: I went sensible and had them steering the boat from inside the armoured cupola bit, if that makes sense? I might do a floral version another time... :-\
Hi I also missed this first time round my apologies very nice

That's an armoured cupola I'd like to have had on those rainy, windy trips. I imagine the crew would be quite vulnerable when they leapt out to change the locks!
