Title: The Daily Mail
Post by: Last Hussar on 01 October 2013, 05:46:08 PM
If the Daily Mail wants to talk about 1930's political affilliations can we all make a point in posting the following reminder on Facebook/Twitter etc

The Daily Mail - The paper that supported Hitler.

Pass it on.

nothing unusual about that. Hitler had a lot of respect and admiration in many quarters on both sides of the atlantic in the 30's.

"In January 1934, Lord Rothermere wrote a long and enthusiastic article for the Daily Mail which began a campaign of support by the paper for Oswald Mosley's British Union of Fascists: its notorious headline was "Hurrah for the Blackshirts"."

The present boss of the Mail is a direct descendant of Lord Rothermere, it would appear that the apple hasn't fallen far from the tree.

"Rothermere ranked 51st in the Sunday Times Rich List 2006 with an estimated wealth of £1.02 billion. Despite this, he pays no tax in the UK"

News night was interesting last night, worth watching for mr A Campbell losing it with the deputy editor of the mail, and accusing the editor of being a coward!
This has been doing the rounds on Facebook too...

As far as I can tell one of the major problems in the government of this country is the na-na-nee-na-na approach of politicians and their supporting media - like points scoring in a junior school playground. Mature democracy or what?

Nope !!
And what makes me want to throw the radio across the room is the way whichever party is being interviewed .......
You never get a straight answer !!

You're lucky to get an answer at all, Phil. Haven't you noticed that if a politician doesn't like a question he answers a different one...  >:(

Not all politicians. There are some examples in history that once in a while did answer questions.

If the politicians told the truth about what was going on most of the public would freak out. Many complain about politicians weasling (which they all do) but if told straight up what society and all that supports it is up to they would have a brain melt down  :D

For many the ostrich manouver is a time honoured tradition.

Yes I'm hated by the Daily Mail - I think it was the fact that I'm a bit tanned with a beard and thus look a bit Muslim that kicked it off. I don't think they would go a bundle on my Dutch/Scottish(Jacobite) ancestor marrying a Turkish woman either.
