Saw this on the "one show".

Touching...profound...brilliant =D>
Also sobering and thought-provoking.

Agreed
I saw the Normandy cemeteries when I was 11: changed my life.
Beautifully simple. Shows that deep down, we are all still human.
For sure...there is a camera angle (different site) where you can see all 9000: beggars belief. You just cannot get your head round it...
AND
That's still way less than the Somme.
We had an old man in my grandmas village. All the youngsters fond of war and military were sent to him to ask him about the war.
None of them ever went down that route after the gent had beaten the crap out of them. War is hell and we are all lucky that we have not seen any of that stuff.
Forgive me but I do believe WWI and II were a little more frigthtening than anyhthing ever since.

WWI was the worst in my opinion: Napoleonic tactics with industrial weaponry...dreadful.
I think the main difference between WW1 and WW2 was that in the West in WW2 the Russians did the lion's share of the dying. The idea that WW1 was fought using outdated tactics seems to me to fly in the face of the evidence. Most wars between reasonably equal adversaries are eventually reduced to one sides ability to bleed the enemy faster than the enemy can bleed them, IMHO.
I'm just grateful never to have been involved in any of it and hope my children never are either.
I'll second that...
Weird isn't it that everyone here "enjoys" warfare in 10mm and yet I have never found such a respectful group of folks :-\
