Hi,
Just started building up some 10mm VBCW factions and would like people's suggestions for figures to use for the following:
Anglican League 'cherrytops'
A Fascist unit in shorts, preferably with a cap.
Sailors
Female fascist and socialist units
Many thanks
For Sailors:
GEA4 / Period: World War I / Range: East Africa German / Sailors
SV19 / Period: World War II / Range: Russian / Naval riflemen
BR125 / Period: World War II / Range: British / Naval crew
First two are traditional jolly jack tar types with flat hats and funny collars while I believe the latter is more duffle coat and battle bowler
Only female figure I can think of that might be suitable is
SCW11 / Period: Inter War / Range: SCW - Militia - Isabelino or Early Falangist / Miliciano, woman, walking, mono
Not a VBCW fan so other than that I'm not much help, sorry.
Thanks for the swift response.
Does anyone have any pictures of the figures mentioned above?
Welcome to the forum GW844 !
Cheers - Phil.
Hello GW844.
I wonder about period like VBCW. They're all the rage for a few years then the seem to fade like a Polaroid photograph. One year it's all "sell us your old gold", the next it's "PPI?". Will we get to the stage where we have wargames fashionistas on TV?
"My gamer darlings, put away your VBCW: that's SO last year! This year, your bangers will all be American War of Independence, but game-friend you've got to field some French, and Hessian mercenaries are just OUT.
I show you how to create trendy armies using high street manufacturers, 'cos you don't need to go designer, and later on we'll be showing you how to recycle those tired old League of Ausburg figures into summer's latest hit army.
And of course, you can't go wrong with Napoleonics, they're in fashion every year, so we'll be keeping them current by brightening up those dull infantry with plenty of gay hussars. Keep your flanks secure with style and colour, and have everyone watching your moves.
To make your armies really stand out, our lovely gamesmen are going to test flocks and grasses. keep your eye out for Russell, he's colour co-ordinated his chasseurs with his cardigan and slippers. Nice one Russell!
To finish tonight, we have Leon, who will be in our 'wargamers looking good naked' spot again. This time, he's brought his XBox with him again and his latest master figure. He just can't get enough of showing us all his 10mm beauty."
Hello
Hello GW884
First off, welcome, don't mind FSN, he overheard somebody say that the Queen sends telegrams to centenarians, thought it was centurionorians and hasn't slept in anticipation :D. If you're puzzled there is a long, long, long variegated thread on FSN and centurion tanks.
Right, down to business:-
Anglican League 'cherrytops'
I'm assuming you're meaning militia wearing red berets? You could use the SCW Carlist Requetes / Banderas de Navarra http://www.pendraken.co.uk/Inter-War-c18/SCW-Carlist-Requetes-Banderas-de-Navarra-sc213/ (http://www.pendraken.co.uk/Inter-War-c18/SCW-Carlist-Requetes-Banderas-de-Navarra-sc213/)

A Fascist unit in shorts, preferably with a cap.
Only two options really for shorts
WW2 British 8th Army in tin hat
or WW1 Middle East Imperials in Wolseley.
I'd go for the 8th army.
Sailors
I'm a big fan of the WW1 East African German sailors
Female fascist and socialist units
Have to agree with Ithoriel that the Miliciano, woman, walking, mono is the only figure available. Maybe green stuff can be added to other VBCW figures to add hair :-\.
Cheers

I have done five 10mm battle groups for AVBCW using all Pendraken figures and vehicles :), centered around Wales.
I still have the spreadsheets that I used to work out the BG's make up, figures and vehicles, aircraft etc. I can email you a copy if you like
All glad to be welcome :)
GOM thanks - the carlista looks perfect.
Old smokie - I'd be interested in your spreadsheets - I have a hankering to have a mid -Wales scenario featuring a bunch Anglican League allied students at Lampeter.
Yours
Gary
