Stand alone
B*gg*r looks like you have just cost me $38
38 bucks for a ringbound photocopy :o
They would have to be damn good for me to part with that kind of money for something from the 70's.
Well the original is very good, gives a good game of WW1..They do for WW1 that Spearhead did for WW2, they abstract a lot of stuff but you get to play big battles
Not sure about the 70's bit though

70's as in photocopy/reproduction booklets and spiral bound rulebooks :)
Ah ok with you now...Maybe its been done on a Gestetner machine
GWSH2 also has TOE for the 1905 Russo-Japanese War
Hi all. Just wanted to add they are not photo copy. Lulu does a very professional job.
Further I did a lot of searching about and trying things out like perfect bknding etc and i tried the
Different versions with a number of folks who far and above prefferred the ring binding.
I am a gamer as well and wanted something that would stsnd up to the rigors of going to game clubs etc.
I was really impressed with the Lulu product.
But each to his own, just thought I would provide some context.
Happy gaming!

As that was your first post...
Welcome to the forum Shawn.
Cheers - Phil.
Thanks very much Phil :)
Welcome Shawn and thanks for all your hard work in getting this done...just have to finally get round to painting some french of the Marne next year
Cheers :) I am going to start working on my French corps this weekend. Then a German corp and then back to French lol lots of painting for next year!
Hello Shawn
My copy is on the way...all excited
I have half a dozen responses so far and people who recieved their copy already and they are very impressed - the binding is a point of mention with each one so far. So I hope you get your copy soon and start prepping for next summer :)
Yeah Shawn I have a shed load of french on the way for the Marne next year
I am working on some 10mm Pendraken Belgians and Germans - want to do a couple of local shows (west coast of Canada and the North West US) next Spring on the Battle of Liege!
That would be very cool
Thought I better make a point of clarification. I have had a good number of folks ask me if the book is sold at various shops etc or in a certain country.
I am not selling the books through any distributor except Lulu. Lulu has a number of stores from which you can buy the book. All you need to do is go to this link:
http://www.lulu.com/shop/shop.ep
just below the search button you will see a flag (in the case above it is the flag of Canada. Click the drop down arrow next to the flag and it will bring up an option menu at the bottom of the options is change store. Clicking this button give you a further 10 stores to buy from ranging from the USA, to Australia and eight European countries.
Using the store nearest you will help with postage etc.

I have a friend making a couple examples of the forts of Liege - then will need to see what sort of modifications need to be made, then will roll out the correct types of forts (large and small trapezoid and triangle). I am painting up the Belgian 3rd division and garrison troops now. I have about half of what I need for the Germans so will need to pick up a few more before I can finish them.

How do these rules base troops? It mentions Divisional and Corps level. I've seen a Volley and Bayonet variant that does one base to one battalion - how does Spearhead WW1 compare?
I have my eye on the Royal Naval Division from 1914 as a result of this presentation I went to: http://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/News-and-Events/Latest-News/2013/November/04/131104-historian
The original was 1 stand = a company. Bases were 30mm squares or 1&1/4" in 'old money'. It seems unlikely they'd have changed in 2nd Ed.
Jules you have it right - 1 stand equals one company of infantry or sqn of cavalry or a section of MG's/Trench Mortars etc.
Dzve, the RN Division would result in a formation of 3 Brigades each with 1 brig HQ stand (I normally put 2 x 15mm figs on a Brig HQ stand, 3 on a Div HQ) and 16 Infantry stands, alongside this would be 4 MG stands to represent the MGs at Battalion level), you would also have a Div HQ stand. I don't recall the RN Div artillery component but the norm for 1914 would be 3 x 18 pdr Bdes each with 3 stands plus 1 x 4.5" howitzer Bde (3 stands) and 1 x 60 pdr battery (1 stand is a battery. Artillery can be used on or off table. If off table they are employed as Regiment/Brigade if on table they can be "Brigaded - meaning they must remain within 1 inch of each other but they can use an FO to allow indirect fire, or they can be penny packeted out by battery. Batteries are not allowed indirect fire.
Hope that helps.
