Title: under construction
Post by: chalkie on 04 September 2013, 06:23:49 PM
Making this 25mm fantasy waterfall. Just need to add the water fall and a few details.

Ummm ... why is it a fantasy waterfall?

It looks like it could be used on just about anything? Nice work BTW.

Well it could be any period just felt it would be more along those lines of warhamer and the like, I have river sections to add on as extras.

Thanks mate.

Nice.  What did you use for the water?

I used that realistic water from woodland scenics , the actual waterfall itself is a bit of a nightmare like.

Looks great.  Thought the waterfall might be tricky.  Can you build it up with drips of PVA?

Have you tried fishing line to give you a base for the waterfall. Then trickle the 'water' down the lines of nylon.

I've watched ways to do it on YouTube and they use clear plastic in strips with clear silicone on as the water effect with white painted on for the torrent and as it enters the splash pool, iam gonna have a crack at that but gonna try the fishing line as well. Tried the PVA but didn't look right.   :-\

We'd be interested to see the results, Chalkie. Even the failures (if any). You could well become the guru of waterfalls.  :D

Superglue top and bottom in the desired arc and then run the water effect down the line. Where it pools at the bottom mess it up a bit to get the required effect then trail it off in the direction of the flow. The more lines you put in the greater the variation in the falling water.

I read somewhere with the Vallejo water effect that you put it on a piece og glass first then peel it off when nearly dry then put on your terrain piece

Well its done, just needs to dry. I got some clear double sided tape, peeled the white backing off, stuck it to the waterfall and base, poured super glue down then the realistic water, painted it when dry, refilled the pools, so it's a waiting game now to see how it's gone. Think the water might have gone a darker green than I wanted but we will see. I will post a pic when it's dried.  :)

I've read that as well, could have been on the Vallejo site itself, in one of the info sections.

Are you going to follow with some river sections as outflow Chalkie?

Yeh, I have some here as an add on option. Once it's dried it's going on eBay and I will give the option to buy the river sections to.

If it doesn't I will sell my whole collection and buy Centurions  ;)
Title: Re: under construction

You might regret saying that , I never have much faith in eBay .
Title: Re: under construction
Post by: get2grips on 07 September 2013, 10:29:46 AM
It's not a problem because:

a)  I think it will sell;
b)  There aren't any centurions anyway  ;D
