Hi Guys
Having sorted out my thoughts re Austrians my mind has turned to Hanoverians for theoretical use in Schleswig-Holstein in 1864 and to fight the Prussian Army of the Main in 1866.
So, do the Hanoverians differ uniform-wise in these two wars/campaigns?
Cheers
Jules
Also suggestions on suitable Pendraken figure codes if the 1864/6 guys differ from the 1846 ones available in the S-H range?
cheers
Jules
There is a separate range for 1860s Hanoverians, although it is made up of some of the older figures in the 19th century ranges. They do differ quite a bit from the 1848 uniforms, if memory serves me correctly. I think Mike Embree produced a short booklet (uniformology?) on the Hanoverians, it is probably available from Helion books, who are very good on this period.
Cheers,
Mollinary
Having looked quickly through Embree's excellent book on the 1864 campaign, while both the Saxon and Hanoverian brigades are mentioned, I could find no record of either being actually engaged.

Hi Chad
Chad - Yeah I believe the Austro- Prussians put the Saxo-Hanoverians in 'reserve' so the Austro-Prussian troops got all the 'glory'! If only the USA would treat it's British allies so well! Lol!
I wanted a force for my own collection which could fight my 1864 Danes, even if it is hypothetically. Two of my pals want Austrians and one already has Prussians so I thought I'd get someone plausible but different!
Mollinary - I just wondered if the 1866 Hanoverians differ (in any manner visible on 10mm figures) from 1864 Hanoverians? I think from my research that the difference might be an issue of Austrian style shako vs field cap?
Jules,
If you want a clear picture of what the 1866 Hanoverian Army should look like go over to the grosse generalstab site. Click on inhalt, and then on knotels uniformkunde. There are loads of individual plates of Hanoverians, but the quickest is to go to Band XVI and look at Numbers 57-59. You'll find that the tunic and the shako are very different. Depending on how fussy you are regarding equipment, then 1866 Austrian infantry in Kittel might do for the infantry, as they are more recent sculpts. Either way, for 1864 or 1866 I don't think the 1848 S-H Hanoverian figures will really do it. Still, the choice is yours.

Mollinary - thanks for that link! I see what you mean both coat and shako are very different from 1846 to 1866. No pics of the 1860s Hanoverians on the Pendraken site. and the only Austrians pictured are the skirmishers pack. :-(
I think I will wait for Colours and see if I can take a good look at the 1860s Austrians in the metal!
Many thanks for the input!
Cheers

Jules,
Do a search on the forum. I think there is a topic entitled something like "New Austrian in kittel sculpts". Started by Leon in about February of 2012. It has photos.

Found! They look fine!
