Title: What's in the Box
Post by: fred. on 27 August 2013, 01:54:13 PM
Last weekend in a fit of madness I decided to unpack the various boxes and drawers of my lead mountain - this perhaps wasn't too smart an idea, but I had stumbled across a couple of things recently that had made me think there was more sitting in places I had forgotten about...

The lot spread over most of an 8x4' table
(https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-n7yBTOfoYaE/UhytHZOD9FI/AAAAAAAAB_k/lEFmtnEUF08/s912/IMG_2118.jpg)

In a mix of drawers, really useful box inserts and small 'bits' boxes. The RUBs are great, but you can really end up with a lot of stuff inside one!

Now can anyone recognise the stuff?
Each photo is of a single period / range / race

A couple of easier ones - both historical Pendraken figures

At least it's neat Fred...I'm most impressed with that.
My 'Excess'....Is randomly stuffed in boxes outside in a barn, where I'd never be able to find anything.
Good for you. :-bd
Cheers - Phil.

Any ogres in there???

I'll buy em  :)

Not, of course, suggesting for one minute that you'd part, in any way, with even the teeniest amount of your lead mountain.   :)

Yep, spot on.

And made me realise I missed a photo

More WM stuff, Orcs and Empire, with assorted BoFA sprues.
The BoFA Elves and Dwarves are extras that I have purchased to add to the original set.

I don't think so. WM ones are quite hard to get hold of.

And I have mainly used Pendraken minotaurs in my WM Dogs of War Army, and have actually painted them all (I think I have double what's in the photo)

Yes its neat - but rather inaccessible, as all the boxes end up stacked on top of each other.

I suffer too much from 'Ooh Shiny' and have several armies that I really need to choose one and get it on the table. But something new keeps coming along.

Nice job.   :-bd

Yeah, opened a thread on Fantasy trying to find a sub.

Decided to go the minotaur route: cracking figures.

Seriously though, if you aren't going to paint the WM stuff get it on ebay: silly money at the mo  :)

That's pretty nicely organised there, do you want a job in the workshop?!  We use gardening seed pots for all our spares, but they get battered very quickly as they're such a thin plastic.  We could do with something like you've got there, but cheaper than Really Useful!

Good point, I will have a check through for those that are really extra to requirements. There are some Araby packs and maybe some Empire that are never going to be needed. The Orcs are more of a problem they have been accumulating for several years, with only a few units painted - though I have a load of basic orc infantry that are undercoated.

Yes, spot on. Though hiding under the LoA are lots of WSS - what I thought was just a few packs, until I sorted through and found it would make another Maurice army to go with the French and British.
The Late Romans have had a few units painted - but nowhere near enough.

The Really Useful boxes are good - but certainly can add up cost wise - which is how I justified a slimline 15 drawer metal Bisley metal filing cabinet (and it was on sale at Staples). I find that when the little baggies arrive from Pendraken Towers that I need to sort the chaps into units - even if it may be some time (OK, a long time) till they get painted. It seems a bit wrong to just dump the bags into a box and shut them away. At least by sorting them I feel that I have made a step towards getting a army together.

Working for PD would be counter productive - just how much of this lot is your fault already  >:(! Imagine what it would be like seeing shiny temptation every day  :'( :'( :'(

Sorry but, by my standards, not nearly enough lead :)

Recently sorted (for which read "fruitlessly shuffled") my lead and plastic mountain - covered my dining table twice over to a depth of 6" ... and I've bought more since  :-[

This is only the result of 10 years or so of acquisition, I only got back into gaming fairly recently, so have missed 10-15 years of buying compared to my contemporaries.

Good luck with that lot, Forbes  ;) :D

I've gone all minimalist this year (can't take pics cos it's in storage) - so in my "to-do" boxes:

- 10mm Napoleonic 1809 French army
- 10mm Napoleonic 1809 Austro-Hungarian army
- 28mm WW2 US airborne platoon
- 28mm WW2 Late war German platoon
- some (4-6?) 'vanity' 28mm figures just for painting's sake (eg Cap'n Jack Sparrow)

And...that's it. I must be terminal.  :d

Well organised but sizewise your unpainted pile can harly match mine  :d

We are talking 1.5 moving boxes (90*40*40 cm) of figures and 0.5 "materials" not to mention 4 KR carrying cases and a few DVD Style Boxes full of stuff....

Wife has forbidden any further expansion until the living quarters and the account balance have been expanded significantly :(
