Gotta love a pachyderm! Any idea what the howdahs were made of - not bricks, surely?  :o

Thanks for the feedback guys its much appreciated, trying to answer your question Hertsblue, the honest answer is I'm not sure. My personal opinion, would be wood made to look like stone but i'm no expert (only on cartoons :D) Have a great week ahead, and enjoy the bank holiday.
All the best

I read somewhere that "bricks" are leather patches sewed together.

According to "Armies of the Macedonian and Punic Wars" by Duncan Head.....That seems to be the most likely answer.  ;)

But what does leather look like after 6 months in the Tunisian sun?

Grey and scorched, and probably hard as bricks!

What's grey, has four legs and a trunk?

A mouse going on holiday!

What's brown, has four legs and a trunk?

A mouse returning from holiday!

Very nice.

However .........

"Heavy" Elephants .........

Do you get light ones?

Brief moment of insanity envisioning Hannibal crossing the Alps with a helium balloon elephant on a bit of ribbon  8-}

 :-\MMMM I take your point but to my way of thinking, heavy infantry light infantry a man is a man... but they come in different sizes, and with different equipment, heavy cavalry, light cavalry A horse after all is a horse but they also come in different sizes with varying forms of armour/no armour ect, so Nellies come in varying sizes, no crews, no howdah, up to 2 or 3 maybe more crew with a howdah, I have a couple of nellies with no howdah and 2 crew. to my insane way of thinking put them on the scales one Nellie will be heavier than the other....therefore a heavy Nellie :P
Have a great week guys
