"The Dark Lord's made a promise,
October is the date,
Although I have great faith in Him,
I hope it won't be late." - fsn
Oh, the Dark Lord's made a promise,
and so you need not fear,
Centurions in October
... though he didn't say what year :)
Excellent !! =D> =D> =D> =D>
Cheers - Phil.
;D
So fsn just sits and waits,
The hours tick slowly by,
Excitement mounts,
The clock moves on,
Why does it seem so slow ?
October still seems years away
We really shouldn't crow.
(But it's just TOO much fun.).....Sorry fsn. :-[
Cheers - Phil.
(Sung as to the 50's Robin Hood Theme Tune)
FSN...FSN...
And his obsessive mien
FSN..FSN..
Will have to wait
For his Centurion
He pestered Leon and Dave
For the tank he does crave
FSN...
Wants a Centurion
God knows only when....
Hey...Shouldn't we be copyrighting these lyrics before someone nicks them ! ;) :P
Cheers - Phil :)
I think I am willing to take that chance
Just put em all up on Faceache....
IanS :d :d
:o
To the poets of the forum,
whose posts I never miss,
I just want a Centurion,
why must you take the Michael?
In the storms of life, Pendraken,
and the forum are my anchors,
and so dear friends I say to you
'you're such a bunch of comedians.'

Although we take the mickey,
you take it in good part.
Though it sometimes may be tricky
to see we take you to our heart.
For Centurions you're bleeding;
for turrets, tracks and hull.
Will the end of all your pleading
leave the forum rather dull?
;)
;D ;D ;D

A barmy old chap at Pendrakens
Was always about on the makings
Of those Centurion tanks
But despite all the pranks
In the end they'll be FSN's for the takings.
:D
But that doesn't rhyme... :(

Love it. ;D ;D ;D ;D
FSN, a fine man of renown,
Watched the clock with a bit of a frown.
"A Centurion please..
Look, I'm down on my knees,
But I'm sure you'll just all put me down."
Cheers - Phil.
All I want is a tank to use
A centurion will life my blues
With tracks and guns (no sprues)
Oh wouldn't it be luvverly
On the forum of dear old Pendraken
fsn didn't want elves or kraken.
Nothing with legs,
for Centurion begs
not an Albatross, Camel or Staaken
Gods it's hard finding rhymes for Pendraken :)
Keep up the good work and dont slacken and I'm sure you'll find one

Well it does for me. :-[
But to be honest, a vague notion that the pronunciation might be different for some did cross my mind.
Is it too late to change your name to Pendrakken, then? O:-)
I'm still holding out for a name change to Pendurion.
That'd make rhymes very simple.
What rhymes with Pendurion then ? ;) ;D
Cheers - Phil
According to my rhyming dictionary: turion, durian, Ben-Gurion, tellurian, silurian, decurion, Arthurian, Khachaturian and holothurian.
I may have missed one or two.
There IS one....Tip of my tongue....No..Dammit !.... What is it ? ;)
Cheers - Phil.
You realise that to be a true epic all poetry should be written in Anglo-Saxon. All together now.... :D
No - sagas were in Norse....
IanS
Bring me a bed-pan, Norse! ;)
Me thinks you refer to S.A.G.A, not sagas - epic Scandinavian literature, normally staring troubled female detectives.
IanS :-* :-\
FSN's SAGA
translated from the Old Norse ... or maybe translated by an old nurse .... whatever :)
In Pendraken's forum bold,
tales of fearless warrior are told,
silver tongued as any serpent,
made himself Centurion's servant.
Marching to the site, the forum hosting,
armed himself with many a posting,
pleading for his captive master
to be released by wicked caster.
Endlessly invited and implored
intervention by our Dark Lord.
Bereft, beleaguered and forlorn,
ever enduring posters scorn.
Gainst scorn, soft words his shield.
By humble humour armoured in the field.
The deadly blade of his persistance
slowly scything down resistance.
With Centurions soon to be released,
what topic now will stir the beast?
Sir, I take my hat off to you!
;D ;D ;D
Brilliant !!
Cheers - Phil.
You siver-tongued devil you! :d
Ithoriel, just how old are you?
Wonderful stuff. However you do realise to complete the saga requires about 30+ more verses, with death, mayhem and luuuve. ;)
Don't encourage him ! ;D ;D ;D ;D
Then again.... :-\...Why not ? ;)
Cheers - Phil.

In 6th Year at school I won the school poetry prize. According to the Head of English I won it because,"No one in their right mind would write a Viking Saga which rhymes, scans, has the appropriate level of alliteration and a viable story at any age, let alone while still at school. But then a little madness is the mark of a true poet."
Not quite 30 verses but certainly longer than this one. Be grateful you weren't subject to the full blown item :-)
I would be honoured. Every good Viking needs a saga.
Noggin the Nog certainly has one
A saga or a centurion ? :D
Cheers - Phil.

Considered by many to be the finest of the Icelandic Sagas, Brennu-Njáls saga tells a tale of men goaded into hasty action by trivial "insults" which lead to vengeance and blood feuds aplenty. Njal himself is burned to death in his house by his enemies and avenged in turn by his son.
Lots of scenarios for Dark Age skirmishes in the sagas if you're ever looking for ideas.

The 1000 posts are the deed, which will see the hero (me :-[) having persisted heroically against the odds (that would be you lot :d :d :d) to attain his prize (the Centurion). The saga needs to be written to glorify the deed.
Unfortunately, the hero (me :-[) will have to have a fall of some kind (probably make an arse of painting the Centurions) and end up dying alone and drink sodden.
I did once write a Homeric epic about my journey from Runcorn to Liverpool by rail. Seem to remember the "turd-green Mersey" featured a lot.
Runcorn - Liverpool is 17 minutes - and the Mersey is only visible on the rail bridge. Also it's brown, not green.
IanS ;)
Ancient Greeks not too good with colour. I was reprising Homer's "wine dark sea".
It is only 17 mins to Liverpool, but when you sat on Runcorn station every frickin' day for years, it feels like an odyssey.
Brilliant saga preamble, so FSN has a bard to record his deeds like all great heroes, when shall we hear the next part, or is that 'another story, for another feast'?
There is an FSN dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between requests and releases, between master and first casting , and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the proposed October release schedule
;D ;D
Look what happened when I turned on this TV.... :D ( it lasts only 2 seconds, but is this the beginning of an invasion ? )

FSN is not just an abbreviation he's a guaranteed tiny fighting tank buyer
Watch out for those big balloon's!
Just out of interest. How many will fsn have to buy so Pendraken break even? Put him down for that many +1
