Techno - just the wolf pack and unicorn heard to contribute - costs about £1m to install a sat dish and local cabling - village up on the Lancashire moors did so about 6 months ago.

Nothing like a sat dish and direct cabling from that anywhere near here as far as I know.
There IS a sodding great mast about half (?) a mile away, in direct line of sight, which carries all sorts of signals...mobile phones, TV and goodness knows what else.
According to a local TV fitter as far as TV signals are concerned, we actually live too CLOSE to that because of the way the signals are generated from there.
(He tried to explain.....I tried to understand....Something about an umbrella shape from the mast....He lost me completely.)
Basically all we have is a connection to the local exchange (sub exchange) which is about a mile away.....and about the size of a biggish garden shed.
Basically, I reckon I'll just have to put up with it always being slow ;)
Never mind....There are far worse problems in the World to worry about than that. ;)
