Title: Everything to go
Post by: ryman1 on 05 August 2013, 02:38:02 PM
Hi all,

I've not been on lately as my medical condition has caused problems at home and my partner of 15 years has left me.
I've spoken about them here before so won't burden you with them again.
The reason for this post is that I've been given notice to leave the flat as she has left me and I can't afford the rent painting figs so everything wargame related I have is free to a good home as I have nowhere to go and so nowhere to store it.
I cannot afford to post items but if you're in London and don't mind picking stuff up you can have it.
This is not a drunken unconsidered post, I'm sober as a judge but realise that I have to either leave all of my stuff on the pavement when I go or (preferably) hand it over to someone who can use it.
This isn't a cry for pity, I've found probably the most gentlemanly and chivalrous forum here at pendraken and following a recent episode of anxiety many here offered words of support which helped considerably.
So again, it's all free and all in various stages of painting from 6mm to 28mm, I can't give an inventory but probably 200+ 28mm, 2000+ 6mm, 500+ 10mm, some 20mm plastics etc, many are well painted for immediate sale if you only want them to sell on.
So if anyone wants them and a load of military books they're yours.
I won't respond to new members as she's been sending trouble to the door and knows the forums I frequent.
Leon/Dave and all at the Pendraken HQ, I'm sorry to post this here but can't face seeing the binman take everything, if this post has broken any rules then feel free to remove it, it's your netspace and I don't want to put a downer on things in a forum as jovial and exciting as yours is.
I do hope that in the future I can return here as a new man and contribute as enthusiatically as I did when I first joined.

I ask only two things of those who can find a need for my collection and they are that firstly; you do not take pity and offer something in return, and secondly that you accept my sincerest apologies for my bringing my moment of sadness into this forum.

Again, I don't want the binman to take them, if you need them I'd be delighted that someone who appreciates our hobby can find a use for it all.
Apologies if I don't respond immediately as I'm trying to contact my father but I'l log on later and pass my address to Leon/Dave/Pendraken for anyone who has space for it all.

God bless.

Ry

Sorry to hear this

Hopefully someone in the London area can 'store' them for you until your back on your feet again and you can then reclaim them

hope it all gets better for you soon

I feel it wouldn't be fair to give them for free.
You could ask for something, at least for the post ?

Hope you'll get fine soon.

Hi Ry,
really sorry to hear about this :(. Fingers crossed for you and the future. If possible I'd hang onto some of it for when things turn better for you. If you ever need to talk, we're hear to listen to you. I'm in Bristol otherwise I would have offered to store the stuff for you.
TTFN,
Steve J.

Really, really sorry to hear this Ry.
I think you know that we'll all be rooting for you, and for things to get MUCH, MUCH better as soon as is possible.
Like Kev and Steve say...not sure what we can say to lift your spirits at such a time as this.

You take care Matey.

Very best wishes - Phil.

This is really sad and also  >:(

I won't go about how much I can understand the state you are in or elaborate that the sun rises again some time soon. I suppose we are all with you and I am sure there is a member (or more) to hold on to your posessions. As I am from Edinburgh I cannot afford to pick up items from you - we are also stretched financially.

The only thing I can offer you is the fact that after rain comes sunshine. May it not console you right now you can rest assured that good people -and I have yet to see the opposite here- will always bounce back. Although I cannot assist in storage I urge more local members to help out a buddy.

And for you ryman, take a breath, take your time, solve your problems one by one and try to be positive. Thats the most important yet most difficult thing to do. I may not have experienced your problems but believe me I had my share of crap in this life. You will go through this and become much, much stronger and determined in the process. I wish I could do more for you bro. You know we are here.

Really sorry to hear this Ry, I hope things take a positive turn for you soon.

As for the figures, if it was possible I'm guessing you would prefer to keep hold of them all?  I'm sure with all of the guys here, we can sort something out.  So:

1.  Who is in West London, close to the Uxbridge area, and has a car?

2.  Would you be willing to go and collect all of Ry's stuff?  Pendraken will sort something out for your petrol costs.

3.  We can then sort out something with that member, where they either pass the figures to us at Colours or Warfare for safekeeping, or they look after them until you're back on your feet?

We could also have a buyer for your AWI stuff if you'd be interested in selling them?

Let me know what you think, and if anyone is interested in helping out, let us know.

I can only imagine what you must be feeling right now ryman1... and yes I can imagine, as I had a similar thing happen to me not so very long back in my personal history.... gaming is the last thing on your mind right now. But one day many things will happen to you....

You WILL be happy again. You WILL find domestic stability again. You WILL one day think about your collection again and be in the peace of mind to want to start again.

Doesn`t seem like it now... I know mate, I`ve been there, believe me and trust me.

I`d happily offer to store everything in my attic and pay the postage for you to send everything to me.. for as long... as many months... or much longer.... that you need everything stored safely and looking after. But I do not wish to offend you by saying I`ll happily pay postage (though I will if you allow it), yet that offer stands. Failing that, if you can find a way to get the stuff to me, again, I will be very happy to store it all for you.... I live in Southern  Ireland so I`m guessing a big box with everything stored within wouldn`t cost much beyond 40 pounds sterling?

DON`T GIVE it all away ryman1, I beg you... one day you WILL still wish you had it all. Let us store it all for you; one way or another we will find a way of helping you. NOT out of charity, but because you are one of us... a buddy, and a valued member of this most amazing band of brothers (and sisters).

I shall add my phone number for a while in case you wish to ring me to sort out arrangements (I shall remove it in a few days).

027 56693

Steve

Guys, thank you so much for your kind words, Leon it is typical of you to make such an offer but I must respectfully and humbly decline.
My heart at the moment is jumping rings around butterflies and maybe I'm not thinking clearly but thinking practically I have no option as I have to leave.
I am not surprised by the amazing generosity, even the offer of petrol costs for storing my collection but I have considered this for a week or so and have reached the conclusion that rather than worrying about my figs I should pass them on.
I am a recent convert to pendraken and will remain so and in the future I will return churning out painted figs at a relentless rate - that though is the future when I am cured.
For now, thank you all for your kindness but storage and the likelihood of me moving 300 miles do not corelate.
It is a painful truth I've reconciled myself with whilst looking for alternatives, but if they must go, it should be to one of our community.

Even if someone wants to pick them up and flog them at the next show for charity then at least there is a point to the loss.

Thank you all with all my heart.

Ry

OK then, how about you tell us how much you'd want to sell the AWI figures, as they are very nicely painted and deserve a good home.  Then when the buyer comes to collect them, he takes everything else at the same time, and we'll pick it up from him.  Then we'll figure out what to do with it all, whether we keep it for 6 months and see if you want it back, or sell it off bit by bit and put it into Pendraken credit for you, or anything along those lines?

Ry,

Your in luck. I am on holiday next week and fancy a trip to W London  ;) I 've chatted to my better half and we will collect the whole lot (assuming it will fit in my estate car) and store it for as long as is needed at a secret location in S England!...or if it's easier for you, consider me picking it up and borrowing from you on a long term loan.

Email me and we'll sort details. Tinyterrain@gmail.com

Take it easy,

Ry,

Sorry to hear of your tribulations. I would join all our other members in wishing you the very best of luck. I take it you've exhausted all the avenues of assistance available - district council services, local benefits office etc? Try the Citizen's Advice Bureau, they're always helpful. Just don't give everything away.

Craig,

I can reach Uxbridge reasonably easily. If you need any assistance, my e-mail address is on my profile.

Ry

I have just seen this , and I am sorry to hear of the problems you are facing.  I wish you well and hope things work out well for you.  I am only half an hours drive from uxbridge and have plenty of room to store some stuff on long term loan in the same way as Craig has.

Like the others here i would suggest that you keep some figures to paint, evenif only a few - DBA sized armies in 6mm don't tak much space  and pianting is a good way to chill out.

I wish you the best for the future Ry.

Craig,

Well done for that, If you can't fit it all in let me know and I would be happy to  store anything you can't fit in.

Sorry to hear about your troubles dude, having been in a similar situation many years ago I ended up giving away several 40K armies and hundreds of vintage GW & grenadier stuff as I was facing homelessness. It's something that I still regret doing, so I'm glad the good follks of this forum have come together to help you out.
Hope you get better soon, and things in your life get back on an even keel!

Hi  Ry

I'm really sorry to hear about your situation and the impact its having on you. Can I ask are you getting any help? I'm not in London but where I am there are several organisations who could possibly assist someone who was to be made homeless.

Good luck

Craig, thank you for your offer, I gave most away yesterday but what I have left (still a lot, I've found more) is still here and I'd be delighted if you were able to pick it up on the condition that it doesn't burden you.
I'll be in touch in the next few days with details, I am so grateful.

Leon and everyone else - thank you for your suggestions and helpful words.

Dickie, I'm not recieving any help at the moment, I was unfortunately recently removed from my doctors list as I didn't keep appointments (shocked because how could I when I have PTSD and agoraphobia?)

Again, thank you all, I'll be back in time with a smile, you really are an incredible bunch and I'm proud to say I have had the pleasure of belonging to this forum.
Every day I feel a little better, ever the eternal optimist.

All the best

Ry
