On a related note, my trip to the atlantikwall museum revieled another case of barbarity on architecture during war.
It seemed that in the war the germans burnt down the royal chalet that was in the dunes (made by an swiss or austrian architect who's name i forgot #-o ) just because they thought the british could use it as a landmark during naval bombardments...
