Title: New recruit (sort of)
Post by: Kiwidave on 14 July 2013, 08:30:30 PM
I've managed to plant the gaming seed in my daughter's mind:

She has also painted a couple of my 28mm Vikings and done a reasonable job for a 6yo (with a little help - and they weren't pink this time!)

Get 'em when they're young! That's the way!

But.... when she gets to the stage when she wallops you every time, you'll wish you'd never started her off.  ;)

It will be a slow burner project I think - she has the attention span of shoe at the moment!

Sadly we don't have a lot of room in our flat, so I'll probably not get the change to set a game up to teach her the joys of pushing toy soldiers around....

Even if she ignores the hobby for the next 15 years, she'll say "Dad, remember when ... " and you can proudly bring out the pink figures and say "yes, my darling, I do." She will be so overcome, she will stifle her cry with the back of her hand. Both of you will then feel the love well up and, you will have a huuuge hug as can only be enjoyed by father and daughter. It'll be a real moment of bonding. For you, her life from tiny babe in arms to the full vivacious, beautiful woman you now hold in your arms will flash in Techno-color* vignettes across your mind's eye; for her she will remember the warmth and strength that you have always provided and it will reaffirm her love for her Daddy.  You will both be reduced to uncoordinated piles of raw and beautiful emotion, united by a moment symbolised by tiny pink figures.  Beautiful. :'(

Then she'll show you her new tattoo.

*Techo-color: as painted by an august forum member.

You don't have to watch it Ray. :P
I never move so fast (grabbing for the remote, to change channels) as when I hear that wretched theme tune. >:( >:( >:(
(Spammers, Eastenders......I'm going to be in a grumpy mood all day now.) ;)
Cheers - Phil
