Happy to met you all here! My name is Tom Dye. some of you may remember me as the Proprietor of GFI in the USA. Since 1 Feb 2010, I have been working in Stuttgart, Germany and had to close in August 2011. Still own the AIM range, but do not worry, I could not sell anything here even if I wanted to! I am a fellow gamer and collector of the smaller scales. I had the honor to meet Leon and his son, at a con in the Netherlands in 2010. (Attack?)
I am currently building forces and terrain for the WSS. SYW is on the horizon for me in this scale. I ALWAYS enjoy looking at other peoples eye-candy! There is NO such thing as a badly painted figure to me! Remember, it is part of the fun in this hobby to try your hand at painting your armies. As soon as I find a place to park the pictures, I will be happy to share my efforts, too.
I have been developing rules that uses unit cohesion (NOTcasualties) as the guiding mechanic/value set. This means you put your units on the table and take them off as a unit- no bean couting of casualties. Perfect for 10mm and smaller big battles. So, please, let' share ideas on how best to use this scale.
See you on the message boards! :D
Welcome Tom...Good to see your still involved with gaming
Some interesting ideas there.

Please don't attack Leon. We need him. ... for now.

Welcome.
Hello there!
Hi Tom,
Welcome! It was seeing your AIM 10mm ECW figures at a FALL IN! at Gettysburg many years ago which got me started in 10mm. Now thousands of figures later, I have little else in my collection. Look forward to your participation.
Mollinary
PS. I thought the AIM ranges (described as 12mm I think) were now owned by MINIFIGS, or are they just agents for selling them?
Welcome Tom. :-h
Cheers - Phil.
Hi Tom,
Looking forward to seeing your pic's,

Welcome to the magic roundabout :O) 8-}
P.S Forum guide to 'Magic Roundabout characters...'
I bagsy Dylan... hippy guitar playing rabbit thats a bit dopey which I think sums me up quite closely :-[
Whose claiming the other characters???
Well I would presume Leon would be Zebedee and Dave Mr Rusty
Because of the speed I paint at I think Brian the snail would suit
Hmmmm? I think I might share the incisive wit and speed of thought and action of Ermintrude ;)
Mollinary
I suspect I have the positive and sociable attitude of Dougal.

Hi Tom, from a fellow 10mm SYW gamer.
Can I be Dylan then ?
(Far out man) :P

. I think you'll find Nosher grabbed Dylan in the first post on this rather odd digression. Want to fight him for the honour? Looks like you're heading inevitably towards Florence? :-[
Mollinary
Should have a sugar cube eating competition to decide...Loser has to be Kiki the Frog from Hectors House instead
You always remind me more of a Dougal anyway Techno
Could this be another personality pack from Pendraken?

Rats.....I missed that !!
As Ian was obviously being sarcastic when he went for Dougal....I'll take the mutt then. :P
Be fair.....Florence would NEVER have made the Mongols.

Probably not ;D ;D ;D ;D....But I wonder who owns the copyright ?
Cheers - Phil ;)
Mr Rusty for me then...
What were the names of the other 3 characters of the roundabout?
And just for Tom...Can we rename one of them Frederick the Great?
Other less well known human characters, only seen on the roundabout itself during the credits, are Basil, Paul and Rosalie. There is also an adult character, old Mr McHenry (Jouvence Pio) the gardener who is seen only a couple of times.
I'd forgotten about Mr McHenry

Or if you followed the recent remake (Movie) there's also Soldier Sam (Ray Winstone) and Zeebad, Zebedees arch enemy played by Tom Baker :D
And if its fine with everyone here, I am quite happy to let Phil have Dylan if I can be Florence from the movie version, the very lovely Miss Kylie Minogue :x :-[ :-* :x
and only because (in the words of Fred in the movie version of Scooby Doo when he swaps ethereal bodies with Daphne) "I get to look at myself naked.....!!!!!!"
=O =O :x kylie, humenahhumenah!
I have no clue about the Magic Roundabout, Sorry. All my kids are grown...and no Grandkids...(yet).
Molinary- Hope you don't hold that against me! ;D I still own AIM; Caliver only has ACW (not up to date, BTW) and ECW. They do them under a reciprical agreement I had with Neil and Liz.There is a lot more. Will remain inactive till I can get home.
Puritan: Glad to meet you.
Thanks to all for such a warm welcome! Looking forward to lurk for a while and chime in when I can add to the conversation.
Dear Mr Tom Dye,
Yes, this is the standard of the Forum. One comment can be enough to take a serious topic and send it spinning into absurdity.
Good, isn't it?

The mark of a gentleman Nosher.....
So, am I Dylan or Dougal ?....Multiple personalities bother me. :-SS
Cheers - Phil
What, both of you Techno, or just the one you?
Welcome, Tom :-h
A belated welcome from a fellow eighteenth century addict, Tom. The great thing about 10 mils is that you can have real armies - not the miserable penny-packets you get in the larger scales. :-bd
Have some of this Tom:

Truly great looking set up HB....... but........ How many Colonels do your multi battalion French Regiments have???!! :o :o :D :-\
Mollinary
But seriously, that does look the business.
M
I know, M. But they were painted many years ago before a lot of the information was freely available. Well, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. :-[
HB,
Sounds fair enough to me! I still love those thirty man battalions.
Mollinary
couldn't agree more I love the big Battalions they really look the part. intend to have big battalions myself once my sample order arrives and I perfect my change to 10 mm painting.
Tom
Welcome to the most friendly and helpful forum you can find. As you can see the banter among members is done in the best possible taste. ;)
My colleague DaveL will be very interested to hear you are still around. He bought a considerable number of the AIM ancient range from you some time back and would probably be interested in some more if available.
Chad
Thanks, guys! I love the friendly banter! Please keep it up! Thanks for the sharing of eye candy! I am among folks with high standards in gaming! (Whoopie!) Like coming out of a desert to a glass of ice water!!! I have seen a LOT of beautifully painted 15's and 28's here in Germany, but not many 10s and only one guy had 6mm...but does not game.
I was just yesterday, going thru my mold listing and packing instructions for the AIM line and noticed I don't have the updated list! (We released more ancients before I left but I'll be befungled if I can remember, over 3 years later, which ones they were! No matter at this time as none are in production right now anyway. I have some Greek hoplites here unpainted that I would be happy to trade (NOT sell) for some Pendraken your buddy might have. Have him drop me a line at tomdye14 AT Yahoo.Com if interested. Always glad to help someone out if I can.
Cheers!
Hi Tom
Welcome to the Forum. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. A great set of members who've helped me - and many others - with help and advice.
My Ancient army - Persians and Macedonians - is mostly made up of AIM figures. they're brilliant - just difficult to get hold of in Britain. Look forward to seeing the photos - and maybe details of how we can obtain the lovely AIM figures here.
Best Wishes DaveL
Hi and welcome Tom,

I have been doing similar of late with my own efforts.
Welcome aboard :)
