Title: Shapeways Armoured Train
Post by: GrumpyOldMan on 30 June 2013, 02:47:20 AM
Hi

Just looking for Armoured Trains (there was one involved in Shanghai 1932) and came across some that are now available through Shapeways (in both 1/160/N scale and 1/148/N gauge) :-

Not quite right for me but might come in handy for others.

Here's one from 1942:-

The one in the 1942 photo looks easy to make.

These look good but not sure they would be suitable for the RCW 1918-22.

They are indeed easy to make....

About 6 months ago I knocked up "Big Bertha" up for a game of AVBCW with Steve J.

Made from an N scale wagon chassis, plasticard and a dragon gun kit, she was pulled by  a very cheap N scale loco from Ebay and was the main objective in an AVBCW game set in North Bristol.

Must organise another scrap soon.....shes too much fun not to use  :D

Cheers,

Yes, I was looking for something that could be used for RCW or later in China too. There's not much available apart from WW2 Eastern Front. The only things I could find were a 1/250 card model that could be scaled up for a quick and dirty model http://prmodels.webnode.cz/products/armoured-train-orlik-1-250-made-by-rawen/ (http://prmodels.webnode.cz/products/armoured-train-orlik-1-250-made-by-rawen/) and a 1/87 card model but my bookmark comes up no such server now. It's listed as Papirmodell Panzerzug from a Hungarian manufacturer on the front cover so may be available from other sites.

TinyTerrain - Very nice 'Big Bertha' there, I was lucky enough to find a US supplier that was dumping his Dragon stock AND willing to charge decent postage, so I got the 'Leopold' and various other bits and pieces. Now I just have to come up with a scenario that includes the Leopold and the Zhong Shan and I'll be a happy man  :D

Cheers

The Train in the picture is the one on the Czech site in 1/250th it was used by the Czeh legion in the Russia civil war I think that it was used by China and then Japan in manchuria so it would be worth downloading it and scaling it up.

Have downloaded and will now work on scaling up for use with 10mm figures. Thanks very much for the info.
