One of the UK's biggest shows, this 2-day event takes place at Newbury Racecourse, over the weekend of 14th/15th September. As always, please make sure to get any pre-orders in to us 7 days in advance. For more info on the show: http://colours.org.uk/?page_id=420 (http://colours.org.uk/?page_id=420)

Pre-orders for Colours will need to be in to us by Sat 7th if poss please!
8)
You know there will be something! ;D
My list is nearly complete, I just need to find some time to double check a few things etc.
Leon,
for the uninitiated can you outline what the "casual" passer by might see, aside from the stunning wit and sparkling repertoire
I haven't put in a pre-order (my bad) as I have more than enough WW1 10mm metal waiting to painted but do need to minibits stuff. I will only be there on the Saturday so will pop by and say hello (but the odd packet of something always makes by bag feel better :) )
I know from previous discussions that you wont have individual code packs etc so that sort of level of detail may be useful to others.
Pendraken will have all of the standard army packs, plus an assortment of 20th C. vehicles in multipacks. There's also the flags, and free catalogues! We might have a certain Cent preview vehicle out on display, along with a T-54 and a WW1 traction engine possibly.
On the Minibits side, we'll have virtually everything we stock, the only exception being the 15mm Fantasy, which I've not managed to fit onto the racks yet. So, bases, paints, decals, flock, glues, Crossovers, dice, etc. There will only be a selection of the trees though, as I'm a little low on stock of those.
8)
Who's going on Sunday? Steve J, Serotonin, Keith and I are putting on a Dux Belforum game of "The battle of Deorham" on, but only on the Sunday.
I can't remember the table no, but we are up top and will be the ones playing 10mm! Come and introduce yourself.
Cheers,
Craig
Tiny Terrain Models
I'll be up top playing flames of war, in my fez!
We are on table S13. All welcome to come along for a chat, but no riff raff please ;) :D. I'll keep an eye out for the Fez Lemmey.

Do you bring the octagonal bases with you as a matter of course? I want some, but I'm not sure whether I want 20, 25 or 30mm.
Cheers,
Meirion

Yep, we'll have all the octagons there with us, upto the 100mm ones.

That's quite some octagon! I look forward to seeing it in the flesh 8)
To be honest, what with them being so popular as a basing option, I was a bit worried you might run out by the Sunday ;)

Thanks for the list, the only thing we'd have on the show stand is the T34's, so we'll see how much of that lot we can get cast up tonight and tomorrow.

We should be able to get it done, Dave's just started it now, and we can finish it off tomorrow. Quick note on the prices, the 3 packs of tanks are £6.25 at the shows.
Cheers Leon

Well that's the van packed, all ready for Dave to pick me up at 8am to drive to the venue.
We'll hopefully see some of you there!
8)
Ype, looking forward to it :). Nearly finished on the stuff for our demo game, with the main effort left on the final warband, which is about 50% done.
See you Saturday and Sunday lads!
Good to see everyone this weekend. Beautiful Dux game lads!
Anyone got any pics for those of us who were chained to the sink unable to attend?
Thanks to Steve J and Craig for letting me join the Dux Bellorum game at Colours on Sunday. I enjoyed that a lot. Keith was the other player in the game. Keith & I had a good old tussle for control of the flank while Steve tried to take the hill which was defended by Craig. I am now sorting out my own Army Lists and will be ordering some Pendraken goodies for this shortly.
I took a few dodgy pics of parts of the game but I didn't have my GorillaPod and they are not very good. If no-one else has any I'll post them.
I was also pleased to meet O Dinas Powys, Mad Lemmy (briefly) and Leon (I think that's the first time we've spoken face to face). Sorry if I missed anyone.
Cheers, Colin
Good to meet Albie Bach, Meirion and his daughter, all who had enjoyable games of DB. Met Mad Lemmey in between his FoW tourney which was nice. More details to follow on my Blog, but the highlight was meeting Bruce Weigle and seeing his wonderful table. Bought a couple of his books, 1859 and 1866, which from a quick glance last night are packed full of wonderful information.
Thanks to Leon and the guys for sorting my order out :)
Also got some Zombies lovely sculpts :o loved the new Cold War tanks one even had some realistic damage ;) :o
Look forward to these being released.
Regards
Sean
Yep the tanks were really very nice indeed, despite Dave's attempt at sabotaging the Centurion :D ;).
Good to see everyone this weekend, Mad Lemmey, Steve J, Tiny Terrain, Albie Bach, Eldamarelf, Sean67, and many others. We also spoke with O Dinas Powys (and his daughter!), and I found him outside on the Sunday afternoon getting some lessons in swordplay!
We had a good weekend overall, bit quieter than 2012 for Pendraken, bit busier for Minibits, which annoyed Dave no end...! :D
Shame to hear about more thefts though this year. Last year we lost £75 worth of Vallejo stuff, this year it was £200 worth of Warlord boxsets from Dave Thomas, and several KR cases from Lesley's Bits Box.
Aside from that it was a really nice weekend, until the van battery died on the van! Cue a quick phone call to the AA, and a battery boost from the man in the van, and we were up and away again!
8)
When will people learn that eventually the thefts will make you guys stop coming to shows and only sell on the net :'(
Nothing beats talking to traders face to face.
Sad and mad >:(
The strangest to me is that somehow these thieving b******s still think they're involved in a hobby somehow... :-\
It's a whole lot different from what I would call a hobby though.... sad!

Has anyone got any photos of Bruce's table?
Mollinary
I'm ashamed to say that I forgot to take pics of the table, but it was his Rossbrun one if that helps? Ditto other tables at the show :(. It did look fantastic though.
I walked that field with him a few years ago when he was preparing the scenarios for his books, so I'd really like to see it!

Leon,
That is brilliant, many thanks!

Thats all a bit special
Thanks for that, Leon. Looks like there were some outstanding games at the show. Slightly disappointed with Bruce Weigle's game terrain - neat, but not spectacular. :-\
Did he bring the terrain from the states?...Would have been a buggar to get thru customs if he did

Not just Customs, I worked on Heathrow for a few months. I saw how those b****rs treated fragile goods. >:( >:( >:(
Maybe the terrain was nicer and more detailed until they got heir hands on it
A bit of an overview of our table at Colours and the show in general:

QuoteSlightly disappointed with Bruce Weigle's game terrain - neat, but not spectacular.
I liked Bruce's terrain in that it was neat and consistent and one that I could happily game on, but then that it what I like for a wargames table. In contrast was the SAGA game across the way that, whilst full of some lovely pieces of scenery, was far too messy for me.
Steve - nice write up on your blog.
One thing though. you say
"Sadly the show was once again plagued by another series of thefts. This only seems to happen to this show, but is a real shame for the traders and us gamers. It would be a sad day if a few thiefs put off traders from attending to the detriment of all of us"
Theft has been a problem at wargames' shows for as long as I can remember. I used to help out on the Bring and Buy at Claymore (in Edinburgh) back in the eighties and nineties and we regularly had things go "walkies." It's the human condition, I fear :(
There again, maybe eight years playing EVE Online has given me a jaundiced view of humanity. A wretched hive of scum and villainy if ever there was. Humanity in action untrammelled by serious consequences! ..... I love it :-[
From a trade point of view, unfortunately both Colours and Warfare have a bit of a reputation on the circuit for thefts. We're all fairly sure it must be the same people doing it at both, and if one of us ever catches them, there's a good chance of some vigilante justice... >:(
The real shame is that it spoils two quality shows. The organisers do a great job of running both, but until these people get caught and identified, there's not much which can be done about it.
Greetings
I recall a few issues from Warfare, as Leon mentions. It would indeed be excellent if the people who do this could be dealt with - traders have better things to do with their time than look out for pilferers.
(In the case of Dave and Leon it's talk to us and get us to buy more than intended - I went to pick up my SYW bearskin cavalry and ended up buying some M13s, some Mk VIB, a WWI Russian army pack and an 1809 Bavarian army pack,)
Regards
Edward
Yeah, I did that, picked up my order and went away with an Argentine army pack... :-\

I just don't get it...they have to be into the hobby to want to steal it but, if that's the case, where's the joy:
"Nice army Bob...how did you paint that?"
"I didn't...I nicked it at Colours."
"tw@."
Just don't get this X_X

From what I remember of the things which have gone missing, it tends to be items which can be easily sold on eBay without suspicion. So Flames of War, Vallejo paints, the Warlord boxsets this year. It would be very difficult to see any of them up for sale online, and then be able to identify them as stolen.
Well, it's been over week since Colours and I was hoping to get some photos up! Unfortunately real life has been *far* to "interesting" over the last week so I haven't even had a chance to think up a decent excuse for my thrashing at the Dux Bellorum table by my 8yo daughter... :'(
Anyway, it was great to see everyone, play at such a cool table and attack a fellow Celt with a sword! 8)
Proper post soon, real life calls!
Cheers!
Meirion
Look forward to the pics Meirion when time allows. Is your daughter still crowing about her victory :D? Glad you liked the table as well :).
