Title: What ruleset do you use in your last game? June 2013
Post by: jchaos79 on 09 June 2013, 12:21:24 PM
Hi all,

I ask you again about your last game

1) What ruleset do you use in your last game?
2) What armies were confronted?
3) Did you feel comfortable with the ruleset and did you recommend it?
4) and... was the first time do you use the ruleset? do you master the rules or are you learning the rules?

Now time to my own answer

1) warmaster
2) Orcs vs Empire
3) Yes,
4) No, I have been playing for years

1: flames of war Vietnam
2) my US infantry vs PAVN
C; yes and (for those that tolerate Flames) but there are certain changes and challenges which you have to watch for.
VI- second time, first time for my opponent, very experienced player, both of us had to really think about rules changes, but definitely will play again!

1) Panzer Grenardier
2) 1941 Germans v Russians
3) First impressions are good, found it played better than BKC, would suggest people try it
4) Was the 1st time I played, a friend was introducing us to the rule set and I am looking forward to the next game

1. Basic Impetus, with some rules from the full Impetus rulebook, and army lists derived from the full lists...

2. Alexander's Macedonians vs. Porus Indians (a mix of Pendraken & Magister Militum 10mm). Figures unpainted & bases untextured though, just testing the army out. Elephants are very slow as flankers, but when they get there...  :d

3. I do like the Impetus rules, and the Basic rules (as well as being free...) achieve a good quick game while keeping a lot of unit detail. I'm fairly confident in them now, and certainly recommend them.

4. I've started about a half dozen games with my current mix of rules from basic Impetus & Impetus (aborted a couple owing to rules confusion...), with another half dozen from each of them straight.

1. Dead Mans Hand
2. Outlaws v Lawmen
3/4 First outing for the new game and played solo. On first impressions I would recommend it on what I saw/felt

2. Brits vs Germans
3. Highly recommend them
4. Demo game organised by the Wyvern Wargames chaps with Rich of TFL 'running' the game

Ok - just to confuse every one :-
          1) Blood Bowl
          2) Skaven vs Chaos Dwarves
          3) Needs a lot of work on the outside of the game, basic play is fine
          4) Not got any choice ! - Deeside Defenders run an annual tournament -

Game before -
          1) CWC
          2) Soviet Para and naval Inf vs USMC, Norway 1984/5
          3) Work well, but a few changes with regard to inf upgrades
          4) Organising the venue for a big game in late summer 2014 - 6mm Yugo in 1984.

Cool 8)

Someone from TFL is coming over to Sudbury to do the same for us (which sadly I will miss  :'( ), but very much looking forward to this particular ruleset coming out :-bd

1. My own Voice of the Guns

2. 1866 Prussians v Austro-Saxons

3. I would hope so!

4. Oddly enough, since I haven't played them for a little while I have had to re-learn them again.

HB,

I didn't realise you had written your own rules for 1866. Would you care to share some of the principles behind them?

I concur with Steve J, we were lucky boys on Saturday:

1. Chain of Command
2. Brits vs Germans
3. Really good, easy to pick up, plenty of scope for solo play as well..................very highly recommended.
4. Demo game of CofC with Rich of TFL umpiring / adding sarcastic comments as required.

Cheers,

1) Age of Dreadnoughts
2) Brits v Dastardly Huns
3) a fun GAME, with the emphasis on game, definitly not a simulation
4) 1st time outing with these rules, but we learned the basics pretty fast, now need to work on the subtleties like not trying to use a Destroyers guns on a Battlecruiser.

Mollinary,

If you go to www.rulesdepot.net (http://www.rulesdepot.net) you can view and download a set free. The rules aren't specifically for 1866 (they actually run from 1850 to 1914) but having sorted them for 1859 we've now turned to the next conflict, as it were.

Played on Friday night. Four players with me refereeing.

1) Charlie Don't Surf
2) US Army and Local VC
3) Can't recommend the rules enough. Best ruleset for Vietnam that I've come across.
4) Been playing these for a few years and every game is top notch.
