Hi,
After digging through my lead mountain, an Elizabethan army pack with extra pike and arquebusiers that I bought sometime ago has come to my attention. As I have pretty much no interest in the Tudor period, my only thought was that I could add some sword and buckler and peasant figures and then paint them as a 'Knights of St John army' circa 1565 and then get some ottomans.
But what figures do I use as the Knights themselves? Would ELM26 retinue billmen surcoat work?
Would the Pendraken Ottomans work ok for this period?

Yes to the Ottomans, they are great little sculpts.
Yes for the knights also ELM 3, the armoured ones from the foot commands for both late medieval and elizabethian would fit in.
If doing Malta be sure to read Ernl Bradford's 'The Great Siege'. Written - oh I dunno - thirty years ago but still as fresh as the first day I read it, superb account of the siege and the breaking of the Ottoman tide.

I agree! I've read this one several times over the years, but could never quite bring myself to paint the figures until now!!
Don't forget the mounds of Turkish heads next to your artillery!

What comes in the Elizabethan pack? Have considered the Irish wars as an alternative?
