Title: And then there were three.
Post by: Techno on 07 April 2013, 12:22:26 PM
With apologies....

To all those I'm dealing with at the moment by PM and email.
Might be a couple of days before I get back to you.
Had to have the eldest dog put to sleep very early this morning...and I don't feel my best just now. :( :( :( :(

Cheers - Phil.

Yeah my sympathies mate, I remember the state I was in when I had my last one put down, I think I cried for 3 or 4 weeks.

Sorry to hear Phil, we've had to do that a few times over the years with family pets, and it's never easy.

Well Kev when mine went the refrain around our house was "no more pets!!", I think I lasted 3 weeks, we now have 2 Golden Retrievers, one 3 months, one 19 months, eating us out of house and home. You can see them in their "normal" pose in my avatar, yeah thats right looks like their eating each others heads, but I'm assured that thats quite normal "mummy" and "puppy" behaviour for them, a weird breed we went with.  :-\ :-\

Thank you all for your kind thoughts.....Very much appreciated.

He wasn't completely ancient as far as Labs go.....He was 12....But yes...We like to think he had a smashing life, although he was just starting to show his age a little bit.
I think it's a little easier for myself and the wife as we still have the three younger Labs to take our minds off things a bit.
Strange how they seem rather subdued at the moment.

Thanks once again - Phil....(I'd better start looking at all the other posts now.....Stroll on, you've been busy.)

My sympathies too Phil, it's hard loosing one of the family :( but I'm sure he had a good and full life.

Best wishes from me and the wife mate.

Techno,

My sympathies to you, hopefully the other Labs will make it a bit easier to bear, otherwise the house would feel totally empty like ours did.

Our dog went in May last year , still cannot get used to him not looking out of the window and barking when I come up the Lane after work.

Thanks Toolsey, thanks Kev !

I think what I'll miss most about him for a good while will be the completely over the top greeting I'd get on returning from a shopping trip.
It's strange how there seems to be SO much room in the kitchen now there are just the 3.....And he was by far the smallest.
Great memories, though I think it'll be quite a while before I can watch the old 'videos'.

Cheers - Phil.

Hi Phil,

I cannot really claim to know how it feels for you today, but it is forty years since I had a dog, and I still remember the pain and sorrow the day we had to have him put down.   Hope the others provide you with the ongoing joy to make you remember him with fondness.

Thanks Guys.

Don't feel anything like so bad now......Still feels very strange without him, but the youngsters are helping enormously to help cheer us both up.
Pretty damn sure they 'miss' him too.......Needless to say they're being spoiled even more than usual.

Cheers - Phil.

Thanks D.....

Self and Mrs Techno are sort of 'fine' about it now.
Like I say....The three youngsters help enormously.....One of them is SO like the old boy in so many ways, it almost feels like he's still with us.
Have to admit....I did have problems looking at some old photo's the other day though. :( :(
Cheers - Phil.

No sweat P. ;)
Didn't have much to do with the little soldiers apart from the fact that it made me slow in replying to a lot of 'mail & PMs.
Cheers - Phil
