...Don't panic, Captain Mainwaring...I've not fallen off the planet, just been offline for 2 weeks now (BT fault in phone line) and work's been manic...
Normal service (post count inflation, forum bar-fighting & top totty shenanigans) will resume in due course (as soon as BT pull their finger out & sort the line)
Carry on, chaps!
Wooppee! More Totty!
See you soon then Nik....Whenever you get the chance to read this.
Cheers - Phil.
:-h :D
Thought it was quiet around here. Good luck with BT, Nik. ;)

What gets me about BT nowadays is that you can have an engineer work on
your line/phone, then his next job could be 20 or 30 miles away.
This first engineer, on his way to his next job might well pass a colleague on
his way to deal with your neighbour's complaint.
Joined up thinking ?.....No...Not any more.
Worked far better all those years ago when you had much smaller centralized fault repair centres that dealt with a smaller locality.
Cheers - Phil.
I thought you'd been quiet recently... shame to hear about the phone line, I hope BT get it fixed soon for you. Ours went down last Sept, and it's surprising how much you need the interwebs.
Right (you may have noticed) back online...after the best part of 3 weeks - so compiling a compensation claim for submission.
I can cope with technical difficulties (just about...it's a nightmare being disconnected) - what I object to is the constant stupidity of out-sourced, scripted "customer service" that repeatedly puts you on hold, tells you things you already know, is inflexible to the extreme - and lies. Every single day, on phoning in, I was told that the issue would be fixed "by 11pm tomorrow night"...and what really took the biscuit was when they tried to blame further delay on Somerset County Council's traffic management plan not allowing the road to be dug up...it was a thing of beauty to hear my wife tell them to phone her back when they weren't lying...this is one element of her role! Of all the people they could have chosen that lie for :d
Anyway - the upside was that I got a load of reading & painting done :)
Welcome back. I was under the impression that in Zummerzet it would be a case of rebuilding the semaphore tower that burnt down? Which might account for the delays?

It was the sheep, cattle, cider & wenches getting in the way of the digger ;)
Welcome back Nik. We now expect the pictures of the twenty complete armies you have finished in the intervening period! :D :D :D

Good to have you back Nik. :-bd
Cheers - Phil
Sounds like you've been having the same problems with BT as I have been having with AT&T. In the past 6 months we've had 6 technicians come out to "fix" our phone/Internet problems. One person comes out to upgrade the Internet but breaks our phone service. Then a technician comes out to fix the phone but then breaks the Internet service. One technician can't fix both because they're two different departments. When we threatened to cancel our service they put us in the "white glove treatment" program to monitor our service for a week. However they couldn't call us back to check on the service because the phone was down!
So Shecky, a bit like this:

Welcome back Nik, glad it got sorted in the end. It has been quiet in certain areas of the forum :P
Cheers,
