Great stuf!!
Some really nice looking games
Shiloh looked really good
Nice to see some 10mm games as well! How do you think the scale is doing in the US in terms of exposure? I know upto a few years ago it wasn't really seen/played much at the con's?

That's a good question. I would say that the 10mm scale is still at the bottom of the pile. The Look Sarge No Charts people use 10mm for a lot of their games. Other than that it's pretty spotty. The Shiloh game mentioned above was a nice surprise. The guy who ran the Champion Hill game was using matchsticks for figures, so that really doesn't count. Of the 10mm figures being used at the convention most were Old Glory and/or Minifigs. I didn't see a single Pendraken figure. Well, one guy was selling a bunch of WWII Pendraken figures at the flea market. I think the big problem is the figures aren't as accessible as other scales. The only 10mm figures available in the dealer's hall were Old Glory. That's out of 70 venders.
Last fall, when I ran my game at Fall-in, I got a lot of very positive feedback. I typically hear a lot of comments about people wishing that had went with 10mm scale instead of 15mm. Hey, I feel the same way when It comes to all stuff that I bought from Battlefront before I discovered the advantages of using 10mm.
Overall the scale does seem to be becoming more popular (at least ACW). Hopefully that will translate to having more 10mm games at US cons in the upcoming years. I'm already beginning to plan my games for Fall-in this year.

That's interesting, thanks for the reply. So no vendors with our stuff at all? We stock Warstore and Great Hall Games, and have sent things to Treefort Games and Armory Hobbies recently as well, I'll have to check if they go to any con's.

Great set of photos, Bryan, and some really nice games. The magnificent model of Basing House blew me away (though rather let down by the rest of the terrain). 8)
Wargame porn.

The Warstore has not been at the last few shows. When they are, they only seem to bring their stock of Games Workshop and other 28mm Syfi/fantasy stuff. I always wondered why they didn't bring any Historical stuff to a mostly historical convention. I still love the War Store.
Great Hall Games is located way down in Texas. I wouldn't expect to seem them at a con on the East Coast. I don't know anything about the other two stores.

I know Rob at Great Hall Games. If they do any cons it's usually local but even then they've scaled back. They used to have a big presence at MillenniumCon but a few years ago stopped selling at the con and just sponsor games. Most local cons in the area have anywhere from 2-10 dealers and the biggest, MillenniumCon, might have 300 participants. It wasn't profitable for him to close or scale back his shop just for a weekend, especially when people would stop by the shop either before or after the con anyway.
Are there many companies over there who travel to most of the con's then, or is there just too much distance involved getting to them all?
Leon,
I'm only familiar with the three big HMGS cons located on the east coast. They are Historacon, Fall-In and Cold Wars. Fall-In and Cold Wars are held at the same location. Historacon is currently held about 3 hours farther south. I believe that these are the three biggest historical miniature wargaming conventions in the country. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about this. The economic downturn has had an effect on how far venders travel to attend these shows. Most venders from the central and western parts of the country now only attend Historicon, if any. On the other hand, most venders who are located in the east attend all three shows. As Shecky mentioned there are also many smaller shows around the country, but these are mostly for gamming and only a few local venders attend.

Thanks for the info, that's a bit of a shame, it'd be nice to have a distributor who was at more of the con's to help build the scale. We're not looking for any new trade accounts at the moment though, as we're just too busy to cast up the discounted price stock, so it's something to think about in the future. We could look at sponsoring games at some of the bigger con's instead maybe.

That's what I would recommend trying.
