On the plus-side, it was a load of that blended sh*te, but still...
"Chivas Brothers - which employs 600 workers at the plant and produces the world's second biggest-selling brand, Ballantine's - said it was investigating an accidental release of spirit."
Guessing they will be down a few workers when investigation ends :-\
Ooops !
Clang !!
It's the sort of story where you think....."Why didn't they spot that almost instantly ?"
I expect there's a good reason.
Stroll on...If the workers at the sewage plant reported the smell !!!!
Cheers - Phil.
Now to keep Nik crying:
One of my Grandad's favourite wartime tales!
Back in '44 he was an officer on HMS Duke of York, half the crew were given shore leave to Kirwall from anchorage at Scarpa as a reward for their victory at the Battle of North Cape.
However, no one told the Purser, who mixed the full grog ration for 1450 men.
After rations were issued to the skeleton crew, the rest was ordered to be disposed off, down the anchor sluices.
No one noticed the little boats, queuing up with buckets, until the Admiral pointed it out!
There was a LOT of cheep grog going round the rest of the fleet for weeks afterwards!

All scotches are blended, Nik, even the "single malts".

HERESY!!! To name single Malts here! A SINGLE Malt comes from ONE distillery. A Single, Single Malt comes from one particular year. And single barrels also come to mind.........
To level this with "Blended" should result in being denied tasting Malt ever again.

This will probably be the national anthem feature on today's Steve Lamacq BBC Radio 6 show. Tune in to Lammo's show at 4pm and suggest a tune to sum up the story. Glug, glug, glug, down the plug...
