Title: Any famous battles around Middlesbrough??

Apart from the battle of the standard approx 23 miles away any closer battles to Middlesbrough :-\

Not so much a battle but did not the English army under Waltheof surrender to William the Bastard at Billingham after one of the early rebellions

there's probably been quite a few scuffles over time when one of the inmates has tried to escape

I'm sure I was once told that there was a number of ECW scraps around the area. No evidence what so ever but I'm sure there'll be a little booklet publish by some random and obscure local historian.

Stockton castle was captured by the scots in the ECW but i dont know if there was any fighting involved

Cheers for that, re atonement, for about a year afterwards you could still see the painted battle damage on some of the buildings

I thought there were a lot of battles all around Middlesbrough at chucking out time.  as the blokes fought over who was going to buy which Lass her favours with a Doner Kebab  - as according to Leon thats the going rate  ;D ;D

The Masham the night the Black watch walked in and told the Barman to take the Green Howards plaque down.  :o
just happened to be the night A Coy Green Howards were in there drinking (I was in there with my brother a member of A Coy)  >:(
Masham was shut for a few days re-decorating.
