Title: WSS 'Characters'
Post by: Last Hussar on 29 May 2010, 10:22:43 AM
Any suggestions for Generals/Command stand?  Probably have to use a set of the mounted command, - how to make it less generic?

Use some of the SYW characters? Have a look here: http://pendraken.co.uk/18th-Century-c13/SYW-Misc-sc64/

Yep, like Nik says, you've got SYW3-9, which are the 'Personality' figures.  There's also SYW1, which is a General and aide.  And there's various Field Officers as well.

They look good - I'm thinking a carriage on 60mm square base with the CinC.

Leon - any chance of some photos of the individuals?

Are the AWI Casualties suitable for any 18th cent?

I'll try and get some taken Mon/Tues?  Any in particular, or all of them?

We had someone asking this recently, so I think so, cos the hats are separate.  Someone else will probably be able to give you a definitive answer on that though.

Well I wouldn't want to put you to any hassel, but as many as possible would be good- I am justifying my selfishness by looking at it that your hope to get them all on line sooner or later! :D

Given that you list so many I am hoping there is a difference of pose - I know your sculpters are good, but surely there is only so much they can do with facial appearance!

I thought the casualties question may have been asked, but I'm not sure where- wasn't even sure it was this site!

I'll get them done, no bother.  Do you want SYW1 as well?

They are all slightly different, not much though.

I'm not sure if it's been asked online, but we had it an email just the other day.

Cheers- that would be good - I wait with baited breath to see what the differences that can justify so many different named generals are!

Actully, while waiting for my command figure* order to come through I raided the now redundant bag of SYW Russians for a command set - I'm glad I did as it has an officer waiving tricorne- a bit of variation.

Think the Russians may have a 'Tardis' moment, and end up as WSS Prussians - I can see the extra detail with the magnifiers on, but I'm counting on once I have 6 on a 20mm base then people won't see where I've painted over the turnbacks etc.

*Most people are happy with one command stand.  However I want two flags - one leib, and one regt - per unit.  This will also stop an lopsided look in a 6 base unit.  It has the added advantage that I am doing 36 man units, and unit packs are 30 - the extra 6 are the 2 lots of commanders.

Haha, I am still here!  I'm doing them on Friday while I'm packaging up the stock for the Durham show.

I have them, and they have real personality.  I'd have to say Zeiten is the only one I could look at on the table top and say "that can only be him!"

And here is my conversion of SYW 1. I only added a big wig.

Danish lieutenant general Scholten (commander of Danish contingent at Blenheim). Uniform is based on my "educated guess". He wears a red jacket, typical for Danish high officers of the period, and a light blue sash of the Order of Elephant.
