As we progress through 2013, we'd really like to expand the coverage our news and releases gets, especially with us now having the Smoggycon show under the Pendraken banner.
So:
1. Which other forums and news sites do folk frequent regularly?
2. Would anyone be interested in being part of a Promo Team, whose job it would be to post our news on other sites / forums, or on their own blogs?
:-\
PS, the sites I cover at the moment are: TMP, WD3, The Guild, BKC and the 10mm Yahoo group. I was posting on Tabletop Gaming News, but haven't done for a while.
I'd be happy to put stuff up on my Blog if that helps?
Hi there
I would be more than happy to post any news on my own site also I could post it on the warlord forum
Thanks
Andy
And here I was thinking that
- a selection of suitable Pendraken T-shirts
- a quick review of the Top Totty Thread
- and using Nik's Google Fu to find contact details
was all that was needed to get the team sorted out... :(
Maybe a good idea Leon, but is it possible to get the banner that's in your signature? Like that we can use it in our sigs on other forums if we want ;)

That'd be great. If a lot of people are interested, I can send out the latest news to everyone's email, and then it'd be up to folk if they thought it was of interest to their blog readers.

You can pull that image from here, just right click over it, and hit 'Save Image' to save it to your desktop. For signatures on other forums, you'd need the image location, so you'd need this bit of code: [ img ]http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/PenImages/penlogo.png[ /img ] (delete the spaces in the img brackets first!)

I saw Promo Team and the vision of several busty Northern lasses in very tight Pendraken T-Shirts popped into my head.
Then I thought, Northern lasses?????? Be better hiring some of the soft Southern Totty from Nik's favourite thread.
I'd be happy to stick the latest news RSS on my site and a banner if you like, plus a round up etc. every month, after all it'll help me out with content, and help promote pendraken, so win +win!

Tabletop Gaming News usually gives a good response to announcements.
1 Only forums of other sellers :(
2 Yes, count me in :D
I keep misreading this thread title...
But lets say Nik would be uniquely qualified if it were that title.

I don't really frequent other forums (except WD3 as well) but happy to pimp Pendraken stuff on my blog and twitter where the message will reach a global audience measured in dozens. ..
I'm in, natch...just call me El Pimpo (apparently) 8)
Ok, put the banner in my sig over at the other forum i frequent, sadly all i can do :(
I do post all of my finished pics on my facebook account though...
Question about that though, may i tag the pictures with pendraken? Or do you choose the pics that appear on your facebook page yourself?

Hmmm seems i cannot tag them? Shame...
I do/will certainly big up Pendraken on my blog but don't do alot on it and not surprisingly don't have many followers as yet so I'm not sure me being part of the Promo Team would do you much good.
Every little helps Hugh. :)

Ok, I'll do what I can as long as Leon doesn't start trying to slip horse meat into the equation! ;)
Hi Leon.
I'm also Happy to put Pendraken stuff on my two blogs.
Feel free to send/mail me the Pendraken news.
Regards
Jorge
:-bd
I can also put Pendraken's news on my blog.
But with the exception of fantasy stuff, sorry ! :)
I'll continue to put up pics of all my projects on my blog. Sometime that will involve Pendraken figures.
I've created two Pendraken photo albums on photobucket for FPW and SYW.
Be more than happy to post a link on my blog if it would be of help...already got pics of some of your ranges on there anyway :)
I'll more than happily post a link and/or new releases of Pendraken minis on my blog/website and facebook page. I'm also involved in a very popular blog called Tale of Painters. So far it's "Games Workshop only" but we're thinking of finally breaking loose of those artificial boundaries in which case I'd be more than happy to advertise Pendraken product there or have Pendraken become a sponsor of our site.
Apart from that I'm a reguilar on Warseer. It's mainly a forum about fantasy/Sci-Fi wargaming but a.) Pendraken's got that covered anyway and b.) Historicals seem to get more and more popular on there as well.
I go on a number of forums on and off, especially specific club ones. Probably my most frequent visit is to the Steve Dean forum www.sdean-forum.co.uk and I know Steve doesn't charge much for an advertising banner on the top of the page, the sort that changes with every page change.
I moderate in
http://www.forum.specialist-arms.com/index.php
and
http://warmaster-acolytes.mforos.com/
I follow
http://www.laarmada.net/index.php
Also Edmund and I are trying a funzine focused in 10mm figures, warmaster but have space for other games fantasy or historical but with 10mm figures.
We are really doing it for fun and starting with the project. If we could help, just let us know
I'm going to start a new album on photobucket showing WIPs of the Dux Britonnium figures I bought yesterday at Phalanx. The Late Roman figures are particularly impressive. I am using a mixture of Saxons, Norse and LR Saxon militia for the hairy chaps from Germany and Denmark. First up will be units of British warriors, using three based to a penny.
Look forward to seeing them DP.
Cheers - Phil.
Well you'll have to go to photobucket. I have just spent another fruitless 45 minutes trying to get an image on the forum and I just don't get how it works. I press this - nothing. I press that - nothing. I press this and that - nothing. I press that and this - nothing. I tear out hair and turn the air blue!!! Incidentally I'm on photobucket as dour puritan so it should be easy to find (but then again!).
Yet another post I've had to scrap because it wouldn't go. And no-one on this forum seems to be able to explain this photo posting thing in words from before 1990. If you want to help me post photos from photobucket please assume I am a two year old with no notion of anything whatsoever to do with computers. Incidentally I use a Mac Notebook, it's supposed to be easier than Windows. Now after 75 fruitless minutes I'm off to tea.

Just did a test in another thread, and it worked! Here's what I did:
Go to your photobucket library, and click on the image you want to put in a post. It should open up in a bigger view.
On the right hand side should be a 'Links to share this photo' box. Click on the entry after where it says IMG. It should show 'copied' for an instance.
Now's the tricky bit, as I don't know if this is the same on a Mac. In Windows, you could do one of the following:
Go to your post, and either hold the shift key and press the Insert key. OR open a menu with the right mouse button, and choose paste.
The idea is to paste the text that you copied into your post. If you know how to copy/paste text, this will work exactly the same.
Note that there is no need to use the 'Insert image' button on the forum. What you copied will work as an image right away, and already has the img tags.
Hope that helps, and if not, just give a shout.
I'm not sure if it's different on a Mac, and I'm sure the copy/paste keyboard links would be different as well. What OldenBUA says should still work though.
There are two methods you can use, so have a look at both and see which one works for you.
Method 1
- When you're in Photobucket, click on 'Library', and then click on the folder you want to open up. In my example, this would be 'Forum Stuff'. The pictures should all appear in a grid, and underneath each one is a group of small boxes, each one with a load of text in it. These are all for different uses, one for emailing, one for websites, etc.
- The code you need is the bottom of these, labelled IMG, and highlighted in red in my picture. You can click on the piece of text in the 'IMG' box, which should highlight the text.
- From here, you will need to copy the text, then come over to the Forum and paste your text, and all done.
(http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/l575/PendrakenMiniatures/Forum%20Stuff/PostingPics1_zps2c2c47cf.jpg) (http://s1124.photobucket.com/user/PendrakenMiniatures/media/Forum%20Stuff/PostingPics1_zps2c2c47cf.jpg.html)
Method 2
This one takes slightly longer when posting lots of pics.
- Click on your 'Library', and then the folder you want to look in.
- Go to the photo you want to share, and click on it. You should now have a bigger image on the screen.
- To the right hand side, there are a series of boxes again, each one with a load of code in it. This time around, you need to simply click in the IMG box (highlighted in red in the pic below), and this will automatically copy the text for you. As OldenBUA says above, 'Copied' should briefly flash up inside the box.
- Come back to the Forum, and paste the text. There is no need for any IMG tags, as they are already included in the text you have copied.
(http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/l575/PendrakenMiniatures/Forum%20Stuff/PostingPics2_zps664bdffd.jpg) (http://s1124.photobucket.com/user/PendrakenMiniatures/media/Forum%20Stuff/PostingPics2_zps664bdffd.jpg.html)
The only bit which is different for you is how you copy and paste on a Mac. On PC's with Windows, the copy shortcut is 'Ctrl' + 'C', and then to paste is 'Ctrl' and 'V'. For Macs, it would appear to be the same thing, but substituting 'Ctrl' for the Apple or 'Command' key, to the left of your space bar. There's some more info here on copy and paste: http://www.wikihow.com/Copy-and-Paste-on-a-Mac (http://www.wikihow.com/Copy-and-Paste-on-a-Mac)
Let me know how you get on with it.

Re method 1
I had to go and change my settings on photobucket after they 'improved' it.
The little white boxes underneath the images had disappeared until I changed 'something'. ;)
Think it was 'checking' something like 'easy image' that did the trick.
Cheers - Phil.
2nd go at method 1:(http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g440/dourpuritan/10mm%20Dux%20Britanniarum/IMG_0807_zpsbc09c339.jpg)
EDIT: Link edited slightly.
A whole load of bumpf appeared between the two brackets, so I posted and the above is the result.
Hurrah!
I'm glad you've managed to post a picture - because that looks really intriguing , several 10mm figs on a 2p, then on a warbases irregular movement tray, do tell more?
You almost had it there DP, just a bit of extra code had worked it's way into the post, and skewed the image link. I've checked again, and you can ignore the IMG brackets I've mentioned in Method 1, it looks like they've come over as part of the code already. So just copy and paste the info in either of the red boxes shown in the images above, and you should be good to go.
The end result should be something like this, but without the spaces in the brackets:
[ URL=http://s1124.photobucket.com/user/PendrakenMiniatures/media/Forum%20Stuff/PostingPics2_zps664bdffd.jpg.html ][ IMG ]http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/l575/PendrakenMiniatures/Forum%20Stuff/PostingPics2_zps664bdffd.jpg[/img ][ /URL ]
Bloody hell! It worked. Ok, the above is my first WIP of two groups of RB warriors, 6 pennies to each group with three figures to each penny. First undercoat is Vallejo white primer. The wash is Miniature Paints black primer. One group is in shieldwall with the pennies touching; the other is in mass formation using a Warbases Dux Britanniarum base, which differentiates the two formations very clearly. I will continue these posts in the photo section of the forum. Thanks to Leon, Techno and all other forum members who helped bring me into the C21st.

Yep, pretty much! Just copy and paste that bit of code onto the Forum and you should be fine. You don't need to click the IMG brackets anymore, they're already included.

Huzzah....You did it !! :-bd :-bd
Well done that man.
Cheers - Phil.
Not sure I did actually. Had a word with a computer whizz mate of mine and he says it's because I treat computers like cars, i.e. I know how to make it go from A to B but I don't know, or indeed care, how it works. Unfortunately computer systems are changing so rapidly these days that people like me (i.e. the majority) have no chance of coping by learning which keys to press by rote. Not sure I agree with his analysis otherwise what's the bloody use of a computer in the hands of a non-computer nerd. It might also be that I use a Mac notebook with it's built in mouse where you move your fingers in various ways to achieve the desired effect and I'm moving them all wrong. I do know I could do it a year ago but it no longer seems possible on a Mac and that's thanks to Photobucket.

It annoys me when they change their website like that. Flickr have just done something similar with theirs, and I can't stand the new layout at all. They've made it a lot harder to just look through your photostream and link the images to here.
It begs the question, 'What is the point of Photobucket and Flickr?'
I think they're just there to drive a lot of us completely round the bend from time to time. :P
How I WISH....When something works absolutely fine....They'd leave the blanking thing alone and stop confusing old numptys like me by 'improving it'. >:( ~X( >:( ~X( >:( ~X(
Opps ...sorry...Had a bit of a turn there ! ;)
Cheers - Phil
Fear not. I too have had that turn recently.

To generate revenue through advertising, for their owners.
This is why they change stuff, to bring more people onto their sites. Providing hosting and bandwidth for people who only show their images on other sites (such as this forum) just costs them money. I find Google's picassa much better. Though it may change at some time in the future to be less useful.
Another go?

Yep, that one's worked fine. I've tidied up some of the excess code on it. I don't know why the ones in the other thread haven't worked, but I was able to fix those easily anyway.
haven't read all this thread yet [crikey there's a lot of posts and stuff to scroll down isn't there on the forum - where do i start?] but Steve Dean figure painting forum is a good and freindly place to frequent - and other manufacturers and sculpters post and show-off their stuff on there.
a quick hello to steve [owner and forum boss], and probably a donation to help keep the forum going [no fixed amount i believe] and you should be able to post on his site. the SDforum was mentioned in one of the wargames magazines last issue, if i remember rightly WSS. and clibanarium [apologies, i've definetly got the name wrong] who's a member of this forum posts his 10mm offerings on SDforum, so 10mm Pendraken isn't something that's not ever mentioned.
i'll scroll through the rest of this thread now and see if it helps me with sorting out how to post piccies to the forum

I do as much as I can ...
I've had people ask me info' on Minibits, especially the bases, and I've pointed them in the websites direction.
Those photo's I took of Pendraken HQ earlier this year (unfortunately now lost, when Google+ hijacked my old blog :'() drew some interest when I posted them on my blog.
My new blog carries the Battleground banner and a link to it's site. I've also linked to the show's Facebook photo album on my blog.

You could try putting stuff up on Tabletop Gaming News (if you don't already). Pretty sure you already have stuff on the Miniatures Page Hobby News
Yeah, I hit TTGN quite often but it never seems to get much interest/comments compared to the other sites out there.

Have you tried setting up an ebay shop and doing regular ebay auctions and/or buy it now sales and a link to the website and forum on it? Wouldn't need to be on a big scale - just a few to get more ebayers aware of pendraken's existence. Or are there monthly ebay shop fees or something like that too high to make it worth it?

The monthly fees are either £15 or £30 I think depending on how many products you want to list.
The main problem is the fees on the sales, which can be anywhere from 10%-15% of the sale price. Plus PayPal then take their cut which could be as high as 23% on a £1 transaction, coming down to about 7% on a £5 sale. You can easily lose an average of 20% on every sale just in fees.
I've been tempted in the past to put a few things up, but we'd have to look at very carefully to make sure we were covering all the costs involved.
Whenever I post any pics on my blog I always credit the manufacturer (those that I can remember that is...and no it's not old age it's just the age of some of my figures.) If I can help any other way I will.
I fly the flag for Pendraken on the Steve Dean Forum - but I'm afraid it just falls on deaf ears, as the users are nearly all 28mm fanatics
