Some interesting bits about the Falklands war: The US intended on telling Argentina in advance of an imminent landing to take back South Georgia so as to appear neutral and not to upset Latin America.They also proposed to have US and Brazilian peacekeepers occupying the islands until negotiations were completed to avoid upsetting Latin America and to prevent right wing governments there being overthrown.
A British Nimrod used a Chilean airbase for recces of the islands.
The sea king carrying SAS for the aborted strike of the Argentine airbase landed in Chile (knew this anyway)
Thatcher intended on stealing Exocets .
Im sure these might not appeal to everyone and there may be more that ive missed

Would "telling" not actually be a breach of neutrality???
But then again since WWI the American policy is to do/ not do what is economically beneficial for US interests....
