I have an excuse for being online as I am up due to being at work. But what are the other 47 people doing online now? Don't you have nice warm beds to go to?
I placed a Happy New Year post and got 37 visits in 10 mins.
I think you all need to explain yourselves :)
Different time zones, or insomniacs ? ;) ;D
Or perhaps Leon and Nik have cloned themselves a few times.
Cheers - Phil
But Leon and Nic dont need sleep.......
IanS
Missed that!I'd only just gone to bed myself.
My answer would be Blade Runner, Directors Cut, starting Midnight on BBC2

Awww, that's so sad; no happy ending for Rachel. :(
But is Dekkard a replicant too?
Doesn't 'the hint' at the end of the 'fillum' depend on which version you watch ?
Never been able to suss it out with 100% certainty myself :-\
Cheers - Phil.
Well i am online so late, as i do all my hobby related stuff when the little one goes to bed, so at night it is ;p
I don't sleep that much so that's a plus for me :p

Yep.
Best laid plans for an early night scuppered by sci-fi addiction... :(
'Moon' on before Blade Runner was excellent too.
Is Deckard a replicant? No definitive answer exists.
In the original short story Deckard takes the Voight-Kampff test and it fails to indicate that he is an android, but if i recall its not thereafter confirmed.
In the movie:
Harrison Ford is on record as thinking Deckard isn't
Ridley Scott has tended to agree but has said he want's that question to remain 'open'.
Evidence in the movie;
1. Deckard collects photographs, seen crowding over his piano, yet has no obvious family, beyond a reference to his ex-wife (who called him cold fish).
2. In a scene where Deckard talks with Rachel, their eyes both appear to shine in the way indicative of Replicants.
3. Gaff leaves origami unicorns at Deckard's house, implying that he is aware of the content of Deckard's unicorn dream - replicant dreams are well known to their creators. JF Sebastian (the creator of the Nexus-6 brain has a unicorn at his house, suggesting this may be a common element in replicant dreams.
Future Noir: The Making of Blade Runner by Paul Sammon suggested that Deckard (and possibly Rachel) may be a Nexus-7, a next-generation replicant who possesses no superhuman strength or intelligence, but with no pre-set lifespan and brain implants that complete the human illusion. Apparently Ridley Scott liked this idea.
Ultimately its best not to know as the key theme of the book/film is about the nature of the blurred line between humans and replicants...
I watched Blade runner for the x number of times and decided to google it for the first time. Well it opened my eyes to things i just didnt know i.e animals being a token of your standing, live ones that is. Racheal not being an android and then she is and then shes modelled on someone called Sarah :o The many other books the author has written Minority Report, Total Recall and King of the Elves, an animation currently being made and many many others although the last 3 Blade runner novels are written by his friend.
It is sad guys... Although I think back to what I was doing? My wife was asleep and I was beside her doing a CyberPunk2020 roster... Sad!

Gaff?
Could be but he's usually seen as the human who knows about Dekkard's 'unicorn' dream.
It's a good point... We're us the last Nexus? What's the original book say?
