It does look good but they are not what I'd call Zombies - more like Zoom-zoom-zoombies

Fast Zombies? Why? Why? WHY?

And why the undead moves like... liquids?

If it runs, it isn't a zombie.

What I want to know is....
If a zombie has been lurching around for a number of weeks, why hasn't it been reduced to a 'skelington' by being feasted on by maggots during all that time ? ;)
Cheers - Phil.

Well zombies were/are people who have been put into a trance like state by drugs, and appear 'dead' to the living. In said state they are so 'out of it' that they do move rather slowly. This still goes on in places like Haiti and certain parts of West Africa. Some years back there was a good documentary on this on Channel 4 I believe.

Well... NO, WWZ is based on the novel of the same name, and there is clearly indicated that are CORPSES...

Just finished reading the 16 Walking Dead graphic novels.

Pretty much shows the way it should be done.

Not exactly, Solanum, the virus that kills, and then reanimates the corpse (in the max brooks books) also preserves the body from rotting, killing all bacteries and parasites. Hey, ask to Mr Brooks, not me!

Utterly crushingly disappointed by the trailer. I had a copy of the audiobook of WWZ and it was fantastic fun- great voice actors liek Alan Alda and Mark Hammil doing their bit. Made my commute to work much more enjoyable. Why they have made such a generic film from such good source material is beyond me, although the book probably needs a HBO style TV series to make it work- 6-8 episodes covering some of the bigger, deeper scenarios in the book- Battle of Yonkers, that Big brother style chapter where the celebs all get eaten, the winter scenes in the US, etc etc.

Oh well.  :(

It looks like a decent zombie movie in its own right, but if I didn't know it was World War Z, I'd not have been able to tell from the trailer alone.

I had assumed though that they'd have to do something like this to make a movie, given the multiple separate stories of the book. As has been said, to do the book justice it would have to be a HBO style episodic approach.

Hi

Now I love zombie movies but when big bucks are thrown at a movie about them they lose their charm.

For me the walking dead is the b*****ks it`s grubby, gritty and gory all the things a good zombie movieshould be.

I can remember the advent of video and me and my teenage pals watching some dreadfull dubbed italian ones but they had charm.

The walking dead must cost a fortune to make but it looks right there can`t be that much CGI in it.

Sorry but zombies don`t run.

Who didn`t have the hankies out last friday night for the walking dead.

Hankies?  Nah...that should have happened several episodes ago...

Have you read the graphic novels?  The TV series is running at about 20% of the 'brutal' in the comics.   :D

Hi

Read quite a few and you`re right about about the brutality.

I was a bit shocked when the twins ( i think they were twins) got decapitated by the prison jimmy savile.

It`s been about 4 years since I last read one so haven`t a clue what`s going on it now.

Reasons why this movie is going to suck balls.

1. Brad Pitt. Its all his fault, no only is he a sh*te actor, but isn't he supposed to have bought the movie rights himself. If thats the case he is simply just using it as vehicle to get a starring role. Even if this isn't the case, he's just crap. He totally sucks balls.

2. The zombies look awful. Lets face it, those of us who love the genre like our zombies to look like zombies. these are just army ant/spilling wave hyper CGI hybrids, totally unconvincing and crap. They totally suck balls.

3. They have taken a great story and re-written it so it totally sucks balls.

4. Mainstream hollywood zombie movies tend to be crap, reinforcing the fact that many critically successful zombie movies have proved you don't need to spend millions and millions on a movie about zommers for a great film. The more money you throw at a zombie flick, the more balls it doth suck!

5. Just looking at the trailer you can tell its going to suck balls.

There, 5 great reasons its going to suck balls.

Don't get me wrong, I watch as many zombie movies as I can, good ones and really bad ones too. It makes me think that the big wigs in the studios had a conversation about how they were going to stand out from the usual, more traditional zombies in the genre.....

Hollywood exec #1: How are we gonna make this movie a smash?

Hollywood exec #2: Lets make a new breed of zombie, like a supercharged endless wave of indistinct computer generated, bubbly characterless gloop being poured through the streets! That's definately not going to suck balls, right?

hollywood exec #3: That's a great idea, lets even make them like those army ants that make bridges out of themselves and do a circus type balancing zombie tower routine too?

Hollywood exec #1: Fantastic, that's never going to suck balls!

(all agree etc)

Trust me this film is going to REALLY suck balls

By the way, Solanum is actually the genus of plants that the potato, obergine and tomato come from! Everytime I here it mentioned as the zombie virus, I cant help thinking of zombie spuds and killer tomatoes...!

People will never learn...you hear me Hollywood........

The 2010 film The Dead (shoted on Ghana, Africa) must costs like 1,000,000 $ and it´s totally awesome, an "how a zombies movie must be" guide.
