Hi chaps,
Campaign game on Thursday for 1870, French are attacking the Prussians at Spicheren, near Saarbruken however, all the maps I can find are either modern (ie too built up) or cut off the corner of the world where the Prussians have been ordered to deployed!
This site is a prime example, http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/mcnelly/vb/scenarios/spicheren.htm The Prussians are deployed SOUTH of here. :(
Thankfully, all the campaign regulars who read here are on the Prussian side...

I have a copy of a book 'The battle of Spicheren'. There are several sketch maps in it that might be of use. I can scan and send them to you if you wish.
How soon do you need them?

Thanks Chad, :D The V&B site has very good explanation of the terrain, as is Howard's book, just nice to see it on the page!
Not sure I have enough hills for this... May resort to books under the cloth on Thursday, this certainly isn't your classic 'billiards table'! :D :-\
Hi Lemmey, bit late in the day but Bruce's 1870 has an excellent map of Spichern. BTW have you read Frank Henderson's book on Spichern, quite the most minute (did you know the iron works were surrounded by substantial iron railings) analysis of terrain, together with a masterful account of the battle. Henderson was chief instructor at Woolwich in the last century, his Spichern is bloody brilliant, his Froeschwiller (courtesy of HELION) should be out this year or next.
Thank you sir, will dive onto Amazon for a look! :D
Delighted to be of service, that'll be fifteen Guineas.
Do you accept chocolate coins still? ;)
Only Cadburys.
Now how do i get it too you? May be a while if I hand them over to Leon, actually, you'll never see them again he I did that!!
Just scan the chocolate coins and email them. Using a 3D printer you can re-generate. Win-Win.
