Very nice indeed, Benjamin. You don't require much in the way of advice if you can paint like that. :-bd
Stroll on !
Those are LOVELY ! :-bd =D>
As Ray says...Don't think you need much in the way of advice, Benjamin !!
Cheers - Phil.
They look great to me! 8)
The rest of us may as well give up and go home now... :D

Very nicely done that man 8).
Boom. Excellent.
Those are really nicely painted
What figures are you using for the other factions?
Very good!
Very nice, Benjamin. :o
I think you can give us a few tips actually!
Thanks for all the compliments guys :)
For the other factions I think I'm going to scan through the ancient, medevial and dark age ranges for suitable stand-ins. Id like to do some Picts, but I'm not sure what will stand in well for them with there square shields. might have to get the green stuff out.
Elegant work, indeed! :)
The only comment I'd make would be that green dye was reputedly a fairly rare and expensive commodity up to about 1800ish, so those guys must be the ultra rich of the kingdom.
BUT, I did the same with my Romano-Brits and my Saxons as well, mostly everyone is dressed in various shades of grey/brown/green from the hearthguard right down to the levy.
Very nicely done indeed Benjamin 8)
Thats interesting I didn't know that about green die. I new that darker colours where higher status and black veary high status. I supose if thay are warriors with all the kit I could argue they are high status and wealthy.
As everyone has already said, excellent work Benjamin 8)
Inspiration for when I get around to mine!
Cheers,
Kev
Hi
these are exceptionally well painted very nice indeed.
Andy
Lovely stuff Benjamin. The Chi Rho in particular are well done. Are they freehand?
Green dye
Aye, its counter-intuitive that green dyes are rare, after all plants are green right? ;D
Red and yellow appear to be the most common colours used, as presumably were undyed 'calico' or 'grey'?
This is a good start on the topic though.

Luddite thanks for the link, the green die has defiantly been filed in the folder things you wished you had known before you started painting an army :)
Yup the Chi Rho are all free hand, it worked better on some than others but over all I’m happy with the effect. when there on the table the odd messy one doesn’t stand out that much.
Great detail, and I especially love the shieldwork!
