Starts this Thursday on 'Dave' (apparently) if anyone's interested.
It's not been on anything else before has it ??
Well...I like it....Apart from the awful mini series '9'. :-q
Cheers - Phil.
I'll be putting this on the Sky+, really looking forward to it. :-bd
From what I've read online, they've gone back to a lot of the original features, actual models instead of CGI, a studio audience instead of canned laughter, so I hope it all works. For me, there's not been a new Red Dwarf since Series VI finished... :(
Know what you mean Leon.
I enjoyed 7 & 8....Though not quite to the same extent, I suppose.
Cheers - Phil.
Have you been watching the re-runs of the original series? Comparing the actors then with the trailers for the new shows - they've all filled out a bit!
I find it worse seeing some of my old music heroes Ray....and thinking, "Stroll on you look so ancient."
Conveniently forgetting I suffer from the same affliction !! ;D ;D ;D
Just seen episode one of RDX...Thoroughly enjoyed it !
Cheers - Phil.
Yeah an interesting reboot.
It still feels like a parody of itself though.
It wasn't bad! It wasn't as good as the clasic ones. However I look stir like this...
Evey seriese in my opinion was worse than the one before it... Well it's now gettin better, so keep up the good work and by seriese 20 we will be back on form ;)
Eh ? :-\
That means you think series one was the best ?
I thought the Cat second-guessing Rimmer over the moose was hilarious. ;D

That was a goodie.....Have to say that i found last night's offering a teensy tad below par.
Maybe that episode will grow on me. :-\
Cheers - Phil.
I think 1-2 were equally the best, 3-5 were all second joint then 6 and the first episode of 7, the rest of 7 was poor and it went down hill from then on (back to earth was the worse) but I would say X is some place between 7 and 6. That's just my opinion.
I'll have to work my 'list' out. ;)
Though I think series 3 was when it really started to kick off, when Kryten joined the cast on a full time basis.
But like you V....that's just my personal preference..and we all have our own particular favourites. ;)
Cheers - Phil.
I liked the tragic bleakness of the first series.
Once it moved away from 'its just us left', i think it started to parody itself a little bit.
Liking X so far though.
I've just managed to get the first episode watched tonight, and quite enjoyed it, bit odd seeing them so much older though!
I think overall, series' 3 & 4 were my favourites, with the Legion episode being one I can watch again and again.
This weeks was quite good actually!
I see they've adopted the Star Trek device of beaming down to interesting planets.
Thought the third episode was OK...But not a lot more than that.
Also think Luddite's comment about the series parodying itself is spot on.... there seemed to be quite a few scenes that were like 're-hashes' of 'things that have gone before'.
Maybe I want to like it too much....I dunno.
It'll probably grow on me when I watch it again.
Cheers - Phil.
I think the best episodes are those that focus on the tensions between the characters who are thrust into a hopeless situation.
The episodes that don't work so well are those that break the 4th wall and reference/parody earlier 'fan lore' (the Dibbly / Ace memes for example) or that bring in external factors or other people/aliens, like last episode.
I'm sure after 10 series its hard for the writers but theres so much ground that could be covered within Red Dwarf itself that they've left untouched.
RDX so far hasn't been terrible. Some of it's been quite good. Good enough for me to stick with it at least! ;D
Definitely good enough to stick with ! (Don't get me wrong, if I sounded a bit negative.)
Like I said above....I think I want to like it too much...(If that makes sense.) ;D ;D
Cheers - Phil.
Only seen episode 1 and I'll need a good incentive to watch another. Pity, it used to be very good.
