Title: Early WWI Austro-Hungarians
Post by: sfumato on 02 October 2012, 01:42:52 AM
I am building an early WWI austro-Hungarian army and need some help finding stand ins for some gaps in the existing range. I suggestions or pictures would be of great help. I am looking for figures to be Bosnian infantry who wore a fez, figures to be dismounted dragoons, hussars, or ulhans. In addition I need a limber that would look right for pulling the lighter Austrian guns. I am also interested in any other figures or accesories that might work for the period and  in what others are doing with WWI projects.

How about SCW Moroccans for infantry: http://www.pendraken.co.uk/Inter-War-c18/SCW-Moroccans-summer-dress-sc193/

There might be figures in the SCW ranges for your dismounted cavalry too - I'm not sure what these would look like...

Plenty of limbers in the FPW & WW1 ranges - GP10 here: http://www.pendraken.co.uk/GP10-p3926/ might do?

Hi sfumato

I tried to help on your TMP posting. If people are wondering what the uniforms look like so they can suggest alternatives, I found this picture:-

Legend
1-Dragoon, 2-Infantry Officer, 3-General, 4-Hussar, 5-Field Marshal, 6-Uhlan, 7-Hussar, trumpeter, 8-Hungarian Infantry, pre-1908 style uniform, 9-Infantry M1908 uniform

The only other bit of new information I have is that in the 1860s Austrian range is - AU19, Dismounted Hussar, kneeling, firing, with horse holders (15) £2.05. I haven't been able to find a picture but maybe somebody here has one. Maybe somebody has pictures of the WW1 Polish range where the infantry wear a czapka and could possibly be used for dismounted uhlans.

A picture of some WW1 limbers:-
