Title: Jicin 1866
Post by: cameronian on 28 August 2012, 08:23:49 AM
I know there was a HUGE Jicin game at the weekend and I know there would have been dozens of photos taken and I know the participants are all extremely literate ... so where's the AAR then chaps, come on, we're salivating.

There's a breathless hush on the boards tonight
As we wait and wait for the in-box ping
And our nerves are frayed, and our patience slight
Come on and write the bloody thing!

... with apologies to HN

None of the above! I have been away visiting friends and only arrived home this evening. Rumour has it photos were taken, but not dozens - fourteen hundred!   These are being whittled down ruthlessly as we speak, but I have yet to see a single one of them. The game ended up not being quite as vast as intended - the table was still about 12ft by 7ft, but only covered the northern part of the field and von Tumpling's attack.  Prussian troops therefore numbered only some 500 figures. The Austrians deployed all their artillery, but only the brigades of Piret and Poschacher and the Light Cavalry division of Edelsheim.  So about 700 infantry and 180 cavalry, and 24 gun models.  The Saxons arrived a little before the end with 6 gun models and 300 infantry.  Lots of Skirmishers, stosstaktik, and schnellfeuer (is there a rules title trying to get out there?) and Prussians held back north of Diletz, at horrendous cost to the Austrians.  So a bit more detail will await the arrival of photos and an after action review of the rules (my amendments to RF&F).

Patience remains a virtue!

No...........just snappier!   Seriously though, I did not take any of the 1400 photos, and have not seen any of the 1400 photos. Our resident David Bailey is putting together a portfolio, and cannot be hurried.   So.................. [-( [-(

I used to know a guy we called 'Broken Kettle', cos he never came to the boil.  One girl came down halfway through for a cuppa...  L-)

"All things come to him who waits".  I am told the 6 pictures that will illustrate the aar are busy composing themselves in the ether , in order to wing themselves to me later this evening.  Then the muse will settle, and the keyboard tap, and the rubbish pour forth!   Beware what he wish for, for ye may get it!
