Title: Paint-it-Pink Blog
Post by: Paint it Pink on 19 August 2012, 09:27:37 AM
Well, three years have flown by since I started writing my blog.

Here are some painted Robo Rally miniatures that I did for my friend Ferret as a Xmas present a few years ago. My Robots for the game sit in primer of course.

Enjoy.

Thanks for the comment, always nice to have what one does appreciated by others.

I have been working on OGRE miniatures and stuff, but they are not quite ready to be shown, though they are varnished etc., so expect some giant cybertank goodness to appear here soon, but not today. I do have Traveller 15mm figures to show though.

I converted a bunch of my Command Horizon bases to play a scaled up version of the boardgame.

Patience is a Virtue,
Virtue is a Grace,
Grace is a little girl with dirt on her face...

I've got them back on the workbench, the OGREs that is, so I will be putting on the numbers tomorrow. Just spent fours days working on Pan Euro forces, including putting magnets in the tank turrets etc.

Personally, I would argue that figures fall into the "a picture's worth a thousand words" catagory. 10mm figures in particular can give an image of a fighting unit unobtainable by any other means. And wasn'r Paddy Griffiths and co aptly described as "the Plymouth Bretheren of wargaming"?  ;)

Thank you.

I can tell you though that they are a labour of love. The blood, sweat and tears in making these..., well more hours work than I care to remember really.

A bit like running the campaign. Hours of my life spent in preparation for games. Sometime I wonder if it is all worthwhile? Then I remember I actually enjoy making things and that is enough to keep me gong.

Renegade Tech was a game that FASA released sometime after Battletech, it ws meant to be there flagship series of war games and Roleplaying  with a deep space ,fighter and ground combat game featuring grav tanks

While they were getting it ready they released Battletech as a one off game in a bag to tide them over

Sadly Renegde Legion didnt take off although it is a superb set of games where all 3 games seamlessly work together ( unlike Battletech where they used 6" nails)

The Combat system used templates of weapon damage which  few years go someone converted it over to Battletech

Sadly the stuff has been taken off line due to who knows why but I manged to save a copy before it disappeared

Sometimes I think I'm really mad. Why, oh why couldn't I be happy painting them in a plain olive drab scheme, with say contrasting segments, like in the TV show. No, I want to paint them in Berlin Brigade camo.

May I make one small suggestion. not about the painting (which is superb), but the photography?

Your white balance seems a bit off. You can either tell your camera to compensate, adjust it in Photoshop (other photo manipulation packages are available) or photographing in natural light (or use daylight bulbs).

I had a play with one of the photos from your blog, and IMHO the modified photo makes your paint job leap out!
