Well, three years have flown by since I started writing my blog.

Here are some painted Robo Rally miniatures that I did for my friend Ferret as a Xmas present a few years ago. My Robots for the game sit in primer of course.

Enjoy.
Great stuff Ashley !
Cheers - Phil.
Thanks for the comment, always nice to have what one does appreciated by others.
I have been working on OGRE miniatures and stuff, but they are not quite ready to be shown, though they are varnished etc., so expect some giant cybertank goodness to appear here soon, but not today. I do have Traveller 15mm figures to show though.

Enjoy.
Like the crews, Ashley. Are they all female? :-\
Seven out of the sixteen figures, which is less than half. :P
Let's see the Ogre stuff!
I converted a bunch of my Command Horizon bases to play a scaled up version of the boardgame.
Patience is a Virtue,
Virtue is a Grace,
Grace is a little girl with dirt on her face...
I've got them back on the workbench, the OGREs that is, so I will be putting on the numbers tomorrow. Just spent fours days working on Pan Euro forces, including putting magnets in the tank turrets etc.
I'll show you mine..

This lot is what has kept me a bit busy for the last week. More here:

Some babbling about the film Aliens here:
http://panther6actual.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/aliens-lesson-in-futility.html
That cammo looks 'orrible, but it works, cant ID any of the vehicles.
Good stuff.
IanS
My job here is done then. ???
So far, so good! Keep us updated on the progress!
Here they are in all their glory, six OGREs for 6E OGRE.

More pictures of them on my blog here:

Enjoy.
Very nicely done indeed Ashley 8)
Those are extremely spiffy ! :-bd :-bd
Cheers - Phil.
Good stuff - looks like 70's Portugese cammo - really.
IanS
Thank you one and all for saying nice things about my paint work. As for the Portugese camo, I'll now have to go and check that out.
Nice work!
So worth the wait I guess? :-*

And finally, Dr. Who?
http://panther6actual.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/doctor-who.html
Enjoy.
Personally, I would argue that figures fall into the "a picture's worth a thousand words" catagory. 10mm figures in particular can give an image of a fighting unit unobtainable by any other means. And wasn'r Paddy Griffiths and co aptly described as "the Plymouth Bretheren of wargaming"? ;)
Went to Colours 2012 wargame show held at Newbury racecourse yesterday and had a great day out.

More pictures and my battle report on a game I played.

Enjoy.
Oh if only I'd know, I'd have come and said hello!
That would have been nice. Maybe next time?
I was the one playing Flames of War, in a Fez! People say I take things too seriously!
A surprising amount of work to get these done, and there are more pictures of these and other SJG OGRE/GEV stuff on my blog here:
http://panther6actual.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/7th-demi-brigade-legion-etrangere-t.html
I'm running demo games at Dragonmeet, which held at Kensington town hall here in London, on the 1st of December. Come and say hello if you are coming?
Very nicely done!
I'm trying to finish up an ECW army so I can get back to sci-fi! Your pics aren't helping any!
Sorry to be such a distraction.
:d
More VOTOMS goodness, as I was able to acquire some Takara F/144 micro scale sets off eBay.
more on my blog here:
http://panther6actual.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/votoms-in-10mm.html
excellent!
Those are nice models 8).
Very nice in fact. Lots of detail, finely sculpted and made in scale, for something that doesn't exist I know that is oxymoronic, but they are to the specifications laid down by the designers of the anime show.
I just had to go one step further after finishing off my VOTOMS by painting the three lenses on them red, green and blue:
More pictures on my blog:

I'm not sure if AARs about giant walking robot machines of death are of any interest, but just in case they are, here is a link?

All the buildings are from Fieldworks, who I like because they make the interiors accessible, and more pictures on the blog.
Now that's a lovely looking table 8)
Thank you.
I can tell you though that they are a labour of love. The blood, sweat and tears in making these..., well more hours work than I care to remember really.
A bit like running the campaign. Hours of my life spent in preparation for games. Sometime I wonder if it is all worthwhile? Then I remember I actually enjoy making things and that is enough to keep me gong.
Great looking terrain, PiP. And I like the idea of reducing levels as damage accrues. :o
It's all part of the Epiphany project to simplify the BattleTech rules and play larger games in a shorter period of time.
Just been to Warfare 2012 and had a great time.

Oh yes. Yes they are. 8)
Great report and photos Ashley.
Cheers - Phil.
Thank you. Now Leon told me that there is a thread about some new mecha on this forum. Off to try and find it now.

Good stuff..Lovely paint jobs
I was having a quick look at your blog about the Battletech Omega which looked interesting and seems a pity it was never released
Saying that I havnt played a 'proper' game of Battletech since I discovered Renegade Tech some years ago
Ashley...You're showing off again !
Great stuff !! :-bd
Cheers - Phil.

Thanks for the praise on the paint...
I thought that Omega looked interesting, but when I asked about it on the official forums I got nothing that could be described as helpful back from the CGL people.
What's Renegade Tech?

Ashley...You're showing off again !

Cheers - Phil.
Well thank you for saying so, I think? :-\
Renegade Tech was a game that FASA released sometime after Battletech, it ws meant to be there flagship series of war games and Roleplaying with a deep space ,fighter and ground combat game featuring grav tanks
While they were getting it ready they released Battletech as a one off game in a bag to tide them over
Sadly Renegde Legion didnt take off although it is a superb set of games where all 3 games seamlessly work together ( unlike Battletech where they used 6" nails)
The Combat system used templates of weapon damage which few years go someone converted it over to Battletech
Sadly the stuff has been taken off line due to who knows why but I manged to save a copy before it disappeared
http://www.renegadelegion.com/
;D ;D ;D
Hi Ashley....I really love the way you, and so many of our esteemed members of the forum paint their figures !
I'm just envious ! (Of the skill and the quantities of models.)
When I say people are showing off, I mean it "in the nicest possible way."
But I think you all know that ! :) ;)..
Cheers - Phil.
And the first of the VOTOMS start to roll of the workbench.

Looking good!
Sometimes I think I'm really mad. Why, oh why couldn't I be happy painting them in a plain olive drab scheme, with say contrasting segments, like in the TV show. No, I want to paint them in Berlin Brigade camo.
Bonkers I tell you, totally bonkers. How long is that going to take me? Could I make it any harder on myself? :'(
Berlin Brigade camo, that's really really hard core work, I tried it with moderns, it takes longer to mask up than paint, I couldn't see straight for days!
Resurrecting the dead, "That is not dead which can eternal lie, And with strange aeons even death may die." I present some current Heavy Gear 10mm action.
More obviously on blog, where I'm celebrating 300 posts.
http://panther6actual.blogspot.co.uk/
PS: Is there a way of scaling the image when I post it here?
May I make one small suggestion. not about the painting (which is superb), but the photography?
Your white balance seems a bit off. You can either tell your camera to compensate, adjust it in Photoshop (other photo manipulation packages are available) or photographing in natural light (or use daylight bulbs).
I had a play with one of the photos from your blog, and IMHO the modified photo makes your paint job leap out!

Yes that's great. I'm stiill trying to get to grips with the photo manipulation software I've got , Silkypix that comes with the camera and just not getting it. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Thank you.

OK Emma!

Thank you so much for the input. I used your picture to help me adjust the settings on mine and while I haven't quite matched you pixel-for-pixel, I think that the new pictures I've uploaded onto my blog are much better.
As an example.
Oh and please can we not spam my thread with off topic stuff. If people wonder why I don't post here often it's because such things are not very welcoming, much in the same way as a smack in the mouth is not very polite.
Where did you get these heads from PiP? They're great!
They are from another company called Dream Pod 9, I won't link as I don't want to upset Leon and company. PM if your google powers are weak.
Got them. Excellent cheers! :)
Like the updated picture! :)
Don't know Silkypix myself, but you must be doing it right.
Heads look realy good, Ashley !
Photo's got a lot more 'punch'....Works extremely well.
Cheers - Phil.
Great job Madam.
Ignore the C20 attitudes above! ;)
Always had a fondness for mecha and these look really good. Hats off.
Keep meaning to dust off my clicky mechs and have a few solo games but never quite get round to it.
"We're busy doing nothing,
Working the whole day through.
Trying to find lots of things,
Not to do.
We're busy going nowhere,

We'd like to be unhappy,
But we never do have the time." :)
"We're busy doing nothing..."
True truth. Cheers.
Very nice work! I added myself to your blog as a follower. I'd love to see more.
Thanks for joining. There's 300 pages of stuff to look at, and to make it easier it's all tagged under the Labels title to make it easier to find stuff that might float your boat.
I know. I organized my blog in about the same way. I have just been more prolific with labelling (or less focused in choosing subjects) ;D
I've added a couple of posts on my blog since the last time I came here. for example a spaceship:
Then tghere are my Ogre cybertank conversion, some battlemechs, even played a game of X-Wing, some Combat armour conversions of Heavy Gear mecha into my own Bad Dog universe CASE-2X suits, all this and more here:
http://panther6actual.blogspot.co.uk/
Nice stuff Ashley
Thank you. I was wondering whether or not this thread should be moved to the Non-Pendraken section of the forum as I don't wish to upset anyone with my heresies.
Nice one!
Good stuff.
I have a number of the ships with what look like radar dishes on the front, though in my case they are red and part of my Adeptus Mechanicus Fleet for Battlefleet Gothic.
Have you seen these
http://www.battlegrouphelios.com/
Hadn't seen those Fenton - nice models, if a rather restricted range so far.
I think they only appeared this week
Though I think they learnt their pricing structure off Forge World
