Hi,
after a long without any Progress I make some great steps to finish my Star Fort project.
Now I have to say that the Dimensions are a little bid to small, particularly if you want to place Cannon Bases in the Fort.
But, here we go...

Due to the fact that I did work a little bit sloppy, I had to rework the inner walls to get the needed deep of 2 cm for the Bases and a plain inner wall. The Breastwork is a little low, only 8 mm, I forgot the 2 mm Bases.... >:(

Seen from ground level...
Also, one of my Bastions is not in the right form, but that happens also with original Fortresses, like Dömitz... :D
After I added the Structure Paste on the Walls and the rampart, I started to Paint the Fortress.
First an overcoat in Black, then brown Earth-tones, Ochre and Sand Yellow. For the inner walls I used from Faller a l cardboard with stone wall pattern, that I glued on. Then I flocked the outer Walls and rampart with static grass....

of course i have to Paint the inner of the Gate in dark Grey and add some inner Ramps. 1-3 Buildings will follow, an outer moat, bridge, and some smaller Ravelins....
Some Pictures from the Bourtagne Fort...

Kind regards,

That is lovely! :D
It most certainly is - Siege warfare is so 10mm!
Excellent! 8)
That looks fantastic.
Mmmm, that'll look good in action. I suppose you've visited the fortifications at Lucca?

Hi,
thanks. No, I wans´t in the Lucca Fortress. I have to admit that I have never visited Italy.
The fortress on the Pictures is in Bourtange/ Netherlands.
It´s building started 1580 to block the Road from Münster (Germany) to Groningen (Netherlands) that was beset by Spanish Troops. In the Thirty Years War it saw some action but was never captured by the attackers. 1742 the Fortress reached its biggest extension, like it can be seen now. It remains in Military service until 1851.
Looking good, Conan. I trust the young lady in the picture took the place without getting too wet? :)

Not that it helped very much in 1672: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gronings_Ontzet
Sorry guys, wiki in Dutch/German, not very much in English. It's on the war between the Bishop of Münster and the Dutch Republic.
Summary on Bourtange: a summons to surrender is refused. An offer of 200.000 guilders is then answered with an offer of 200.000 bullets. After several days bombardment, the Münster army gives up and goes around the fortress (with some difficulty).
Hi there Conan love the progress on the star fort

Hi, sorry for the long time to answer, I was on vacation over the last Month.
The Ramparts on the Wall are strips of Foam (styrodur), 0.5 cm deep and 0.8 cm high. Then I cut a slope to the outer side. For the height i must say, take 1cm, that would look better with 10mm plus Bases.
@ all: Thanks for your commendation..
Regards,
Peter
