Title: Favourite little-known line in a movie.
Post by: FierceKitty on 11 August 2012, 10:30:52 AM
My current fave is from "Go Fish", a spectacularly forgettable movie generally. But a woman urging her friend to give details of a recent erotic encounter says "Tell me about it, and don't leave out any adverbs." Good one.
   What's your favourite?

'You know you've reached rock bottom when you're told you have character flaws by a man who hanged his predecessor in a military coup.'

'For twenty four years people have been trying to kill me! People who know how. Now do you think that's because my dad was a Greek soda pop maker? Or do you think that's because I'm an American spy? Go f**k yourself, you f*****g child!' *EDIT: clip added*

'These things happened. They were glorious and they changed the world... and then we f****d up the endgame.'

- Charlie Wilson's War (all of them)

'Someone's ear is in danger of having hair brushed over it...'

- Zombieland

EDIT: Clip added - beware harsh language.

All from trainspotting:

Sick Boy (in a Sean Connery accent) "Do you shee the beasht? Have you got it in your shights?"
Mark Renton (aiming an air rifle at a dog) "Clear enough, Missh Moneypenny! This should preshent no shignificant problemsh!" [shoots the dog which starts attacking its owner]
Sick Boy: "For a vegetarian, Rents, you're a f***in' EVIL shot!"

Mark Renton "Phew! I haven't felt that good since Archie Gemmill scored against Holland in 1978!"

Mark Renton "It's sh*te being Scottish! We're the lowest of the low. The scum of the f***ing Earth! The most wretched, miserable, servile, pathetic trash that was ever shat into civilization. Some hate the English. I don't. They're just winkers. We, on the other hand, are COLONIZED by winkers. Can't even find a decent culture to be colonized BY. We're ruled by effete assholes."

"Yonda lies da valley of da sin and beyond, da kassle of my fodda."
Tony Curtis in Son of Ali Baba

Sometimes quoted as " Yonda lies the palace of my fadda the Sheik"

or

"Mary: George, I didn't know you could yodel.
George M. Cohan: Learned it on the farm. Nothing but pig callin' with frost on it."

from Yankee Doodle Dandy , 1942 - a great little movie with an unexpected song and dance effort by James Cagnay.

A throwaway line from the (dreadful) 2nd Pirates film:

(After the crew have discovered Jack Sparrow's black spot on his palm)
Sparrow: "My eyesight's as good as ever, just so you know."

Cheers, Martyn

Not really a line but a scene from the forgettable 'The Perfect Weapon'.

Hero fights and kills many bad guys.  Hero stabs one bad guy in thigh, hero continues fight and is finally punched and falls back into bad guy with knife in leg.  Hero pulls knife out of leg to kill different bad guy that is attacking him then hero puts knife back into same place on bad guy's leg!
