Every 4 years we see a load of sports that we rarely see. Which ones do you wish were on telly more.
Personally I like the Velodrome - though they have started to show a bit more, I love the Elimination races - every two laps the person in last has to drop out- this leads to a insane sprint in the last 100m of the lap.
The cycling and swimming are certainly ones that get you on the edge of your seat, especially the sprints with the cat and mouse thing going on. I quite enjoy watching the shooting as well, which isn't something you see on TV much.
Thinking about it, I actually like most of them, and would happily flick between most of the events given the chance!
:D
I've enjoyed the Handball - shame it isn't a bigger sport in the UK really. Good to see hockey getting some coverage too.
Ladies' beach volleyball.
In before Nik! :P
Cheers,
Aart
Fencing, especially Epee!
Got to West Midlands championships in my youth, before i became more interested in girls:-)!
Then I started meeting girls through it and carried on through Uni and the wilderness years after, wish I'd carried on whom i came south!

You do have the choice. Red button if you've got satellite or on the Internet.
24 channels on each showing live feeds from all the sports on any given day.

It's a very long time since I've watched so much sport! I'm not getting much work done with web access :D
If I to pick one sport I'd like to see more of it would be rowing, but swimming, beach volley ball (ladies only please) and heptathlon are on the list too ;)
Cheers,
Kev

I've got those, but you can't record them, so they're pretty useless to me when I'm at work until midnight most nights... :'( I've been making do with the highlights program each night so far.

Fencing and cycling for me too.
I was also a sabreur in my youth - taught by the schools liaison team from the 4/7 Dragoon Guards...
Badminton and hockey - used to play them both at various times. Thought the women's football was impressive too (yes, Nosher, my kind of Kissball!) ;)
While i've consistently and systematically avoided watching any of these running about in their pants type activities, i think we should definately see more varied sports coverage.
I'd cut coverage of the 'Beautiful Game' (there's a catastrophic misnomer if ever there was one) by about 99% and replace it with, for example;
- Women's football (FAR superior as an enjoyable game to watch)
- Archery (field & target) / shooting (target)
- Kabbadi
- Sumo / Kendo / other martial arts
- Bowling (10-pin)
- Wargames
- Etc., etc.
I'm not very interested in sports, but the womens' high jump caught my eye.
This - I am told - is Ariane Friedrich after her jump. Has her boyfriend dug her out yet?

Why dig her out if the arrangement is so convenient....

In that position?? Think again. It would be a truly Olympian feat to... um... oh, never mind... @-)

At least the bar's still on - and why does she have a large hand pointing downwards (upwards) on her back?
Think we'll be seeing a lot more women beating each other up soon with gold in boxing and Tae kwondo last night!
If you didn't see the three finals including the Irish one, get onto Iplayer now, amazing!
Nearly 60% ofBritains medals have been won by women, the totty thread will be busy for months!

Not too interested in track and field but I can watch a fair bit of the rest. Handball really caught my eye though, still trying to work out the rules mind you.
I may be biased on this one given my involvement, but I can't wait to see the coverage of the Wheelchair Rugby during the Paralympics.
Handball .... Which I sometimes watch on certain streaming channels that shall remain nameless and downhill badminton which always impresses me

I was a bit like that, not a clue what was going on, but it looked cool.

Downhill badminton? Is that anything like uphill gardening?
Doesn't the shuttlecock tend to drift? :D

Only if your doing it wrong! :)
Personally I just wish they'd show more of the closing ceremony.
And move it closer (much closer) to the opening ceremony.
I could get into a long rant here but I won't - I know not being enthusiastic about the Olympic games is a losing proposition.

I enjoyed the velodrome, but was irritated by the BBC coverage.
Any race not including a Brit was rarely shown (unless a final) and they'd cut to the CBBC presenter asking gormless questions of Mark Cavendish. Although it was amusing that Cavendish was trying to watch the race going on behind him while this berk was talking. I want to watch the racing! Talk when there's nothing going on. It's not rocket science, is it?
Also stunned by the mountain-biking - never seen this before. Brilliant telly, lucky it wasn't damp or we'd have seen a lot of broken bones methinks . . .
Worst thing? The dancing horse thingy. This is a sport? Bloody hellfire.
Cheers, Martyn

Couldn't agree more.
Complete and utter waste of time and money. Truely bread and circuses, and the amount of rage naysayers like me garner online shows just how completely that has brainwashed people.
And...an utter disgrace that it dominated the BBC coverage almost completely. During all this 'running about in pants' behaviour we've had one of the greatest events in human history happen and it barely got 5 minutes coverage on the news. Too busy watching the circus.
Now we've had basically a month of nothing but 'sport', i presume to make up for that we're now going to have a month with
no sport on whatsoever?
>:(

No, it's a solid investment in our future. Mars is the closest planet to Earth where humans could live with minimal life support. If robots find life there, even in the form of microbes, it proves that the circumstances necessary to the creation of life are less specific than scientists thought for a long time. And then there's the spin-off. One example of which is the development of self-cleaning solar panels. Once mankind has learned to benefit more fully from the sun's energy these panels will be a huge cost-saver.
Cheers,
Aart

Still a complete waste of money. Why not design the solar panels here rather than sending them on a pointless exercise millions of miles away?
