Title: French WW1 pics needed
Post by: sultanbev on 30 July 2012, 10:53:05 AM
Hi,
can anyone post me pics of items F16 French High command WW1 and F24 37mm gun with crew.
As the latter is £3.50 do you get 3 actual guns and 2-3 crew each?

I am hoping it is the M1916 infantry gun on a tripod, they were still in use in WW2 as they hadn't made enough 60mm mortars for the infantry company support platoons.

As you don't make a French 60mm mortar, I'll have to use the American one A38. The website isn't clear whether it is one mortar and 3 crew or 3 mortars and some crew! So I can't order until someone clarifies please

Mark

Most of the WWII heavy weapons packs are 3 guns/mortars and 6 crew

For example this is the German one

The French high command has a chap in kepi, jacket and boots, with hand on hip - he is used on my WW2 command bases - I don't have a good photo though.

Hi Mark,
you would get 3 guns and 2-3 crew per gun. No idea whether this is the gun you are after though, but if it is I could do with them for my French as well :).
Steve.

Hi sultanbev

I believe the master for that gun is shown at http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,195.msg1338.html#msg1338 (http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,195.msg1338.html#msg1338)

In case the link is snafued the pic is below:-

The French high command has a general in kepi standing and an aide in bonnet de police also standing. I did actually buy this pack but I think it got caught up in a cleaning frenzy and is now buried in land fill  :(

Cheers

Also, the Japanese built a copy as the 37mm Infantry Gun Type 11. It was built from 1922 to 1937, and it remained in service because there wasn't another gun to replace it. So with suitable crew it could be a nice addition for WW2 Japanese as well.
