Hi there
Just joined the forum - into various periods, from Mexican Adventure to...erm...loads more unfinished projects. I haven't actually gamed for a while after moving back to Belfast and building up a few forces, so I have been fluttering around many periods and scales, often depending what looks new and shiney in my local Model Shop.
I've been thinking of taking the leap into 10mm though, as I'm usually a 28mm/15mm man, but 10mm looks suitable for larger battles, and I might be able to get a project finished. Just got my ands on 1870, and probably going to start building armies for that before proxying for Maximillian, and other 19th C wars.
So Hello!
Martin D
Welcome Martin and you nailed it. Loads of great looking figures perfect those larger battles.

Hi Martin...Welcome !
Cheers - Phil.
Hi Marty ....Welcome....YEAH someone else from Belfast...Thats 3 of us now as far as I know!
Wondered if there was any more from Belfast here!
Cheers chaps!
Well theres me ...Irregular Wars ( Who is originally from Australia) and Sgt Steiner who I think frequents this forum as well
Sounds good. Moved back here a couple of years ago, and have bumped into a couple of (historical) gamers in Joe's Model shop, and was at the local society only once - before I ended up having to work on Saturdays!. So, I've just been painting and pouring over rules.
Painting very slowly, hence my temptation to start some periods in 10mm!
I'm already doing 28mm armies for ECW/TYW, Maximillian skirmish, WW2, Medieval and ancients, and 15mm Aztecs (for some bizarre reason) after selling some armies back in England.
Was thinking of 10mm for 18th-19th, though. :)
Hello and welcome - 10 mm is the perfect scale for most wargaming apart from skirmishing in 28mm.
I'm beginning to think that, certainly for gunpowder era. I could never really get into 6mm, and I find myself spending far to much time on 15mm minis - sometimes I could paint a 28 in just over the same time.
But 10mm seems an interesting 'scale' that could look good.
Although, tbh, I haven't actually seen any 'in the flesh' ! But I've seen plenty of photos of them in action and I like their 'footprint' if you see what I mean.
Just planning an order anyway!
are you in any clubs Marty?
I only went to the Ulster Wargames Society (up the Castlereagh road) once - but it's Saturdays only, and I had a job which randomly had me working then. I've met a few more gamers who have recommended 2 other clubs, but I've completely forgotten their names! I was in the old Hull Wargames society - it does make a real difference finishing stuff tbh!
As I've said, I've been mostly painting, researching and rule-reading. And having a short attention span for periods! I'm quite close to getting useable forces for 28mm WW2 skirmish, 15mm FOG etc, but I'm looking at 10mm as a way to get proper armies on the table in less than about 5 years! :)
The other club is TabletopNorth which meets on a Monday night in Stranmillis It was formed out of the Dragonslayers which does Q-Con quite a few years back
They mostly do 15mm FOG and quite a few RPGers but to be honest they will give anything a go

Personally at present I am getting ready for Impetus Baroque but cant decide on a scale yet
That was one of them! Thanks for the link.
Will check them out - I've only got a few more elements to finish my late med Holy Roman Empire lot for FOG.
Will probably end up getting opposing 10mm armies for mid-19th C stuff.

I'm a member there but havnt been down for a while since my car went off the road though
Welcome to the miniature world of 10mm. The only justification necessary is to calculate what a 300 figure army 1/3 cavalry with guns and artillery train would cost in 28mm metal. :o
Cheers SV52 and Leon.
Just thinking what base sizes to use for 1870 etc. I've got a pile of 30x20 mdf bases left from another project...might use them, seem fairly close to the ones suggested in the rules.
Any idea how many close order Pendraken 10mm would fit (in 2 ranks) on them?
(just to help planning) ;)
Welcome to the forum!!
Welcome Martin :-h
