Title: 18th Century British. Mix and Match? AWI vs Jacobites?
Post by: DavetheLost on 30 June 2012, 12:48:46 AM
I am thinking of doing the 1745 Jacobite Rebellion in 10mm and also converting my AWI from 15mm to 10mm.  My AWI forces are in need of serious reworking anyway so the time may be right to switch scales.

What I am wondering is how noticeable are the differences between AWI British Infantry and SYW infantry in 10mm?

Which would be the better choice for this project? A mix of both? Build two British armies because they just won't look right otherwise?

Mostly thinking about tricorns hats, not the rest...

Also which codes would be best for Government Highlanders during the '45?

just simply use 10mm syw the awi wouldnt really look right, the syw figures wear the correct uniforms such as mitre caps and coats and the gaiters.

Just wondering what could be used for Jacobites?

A '45 campaign has been on my back boiler for years but never really found the figures for it (apart from 28s IIRC)

I made my own Jacobites out of AWI Scots troops. Green stuff and patience  :'(

I just like the style of Clibs' sculpts so I use them. The 'authentisty police' are banned from my house  :D

I recall seeing some spectacularly painted by Andrew Taylor, but can't find the pic right now.

Dave,

I have found the easiest way is to either decapitate the figures, or cut them off just above the ankles.  I find the latter, carefully based, gives a more pleasing effect overall!    ???
