It would be way cooler seeing HM actually holding the weapon and firing it - although it'd probably snap her shoulder like a twig...

SA80? Hardly - SLR? Now your talking... :)
Regimental Fire for my Captain General!
Zay! Zay! Za! Zay! Zay! Zay!
ZAY!
She's older than my mum, so likely to be a bit fragile.... Mind you, she's probably used to using a shotgun to shoot at poachers at Balmoral...:)
Let's drink a health to this gallant band ;)
John Bradshaw, Lord Grey of Groby, Oliver Cromwell, Edward Whalley, Sir Michael Livesey, John Okey, Sir John Danvers, Sir John Bourchier, Henry Ireton, Sir Thomas Mauleverer, Sir Hardress Waller, John Blakiston, John Hutchinson, William Goffe, Thomas Pride, Peter Temple, Thomas Harrison, John Hewson, Henry Smith, Sir Peregrine Pelham, Richard Deane, Robert Tichborne, Humphrey Edwards, Daniel Blagrave, Owen Rowe, William Purefoy, Adrian Scroope, James Temple, Augustine Garland, Edmund Ludlow, Sir Henry Marten, Vincent Potter, Sir William Constable, Richard Ingoldsby, William Cawley, John Barkstead, Isaac Ewer, John Dixwell, Valentine Walton, Simon Mayne, Thomas Horton, John Jones Maesygarnedd, John Moore, Gilbert Millington, George Fleetwood, John Alured, Robert Lilburne, William Say, Anthony Stapley, Sir Gregory Norton, Thomas Challoner, Thomas Wogan, John Venn, Gregory Clement, John Downes, Thomas Waite, Thomas Scot, John Carew, Miles Corbet
Ah, my ancestor is still number 4 on the list.
Amazing story, he ended up fleeing to the Americas at the restoration, and disappeared, only to reemerge to organise the defense of a colonial settlement during one of the Wars with King Phillip. His brother James (whom my grandfather was named after) is missing from the list, he was also a regicide, very influential.
Up the republic. 8)
An interesting guy

Oh course my grandfather was a massive teller of tale and lies!! Recently my uncle has undertaken massive research into the family tree and it's complete rubbish that we're related! :'(
But it's a great tale! ;)
What though the zealots pull down the prelates,
Push at the pulpit, and kick at the crown,
Shall we not never once more endeavour,
Strive to purchase our royall renown?
Shall not the Roundhead first be confounded?
Sa, sa, sa, say, boys, ha, ha, ha, ha, boys,
Then we'll return with triumph and joy.
Then we'll be merry, drink white wine and sherry,
Then we will sing, boys, God bless the King, boys,
Cast up our caps, and cry, VIVE LE ROY.
What though the wise make Alderman Isaac
Put us in prison and steal our estates,
Though we be forced to be unhorsed,
And walk on foot as it pleaseth the fates;
In the King's army no man shall harm ye.
Then come along, boys, valiant and strong, boys,
Fight for your goods, which the Roundheads enjoy;
And when you venture London to enter,
And when you come, boys, with fife and drum, boys,
Isaac himself shall cry, VIVE LE ROY.
If you will choose them, do not refuse them,
Since honest Parliament never made thieves,
Charles will not further have rogues dipt in murder,
Neither by leases, long lives, nor reprieves.
'Tis the conditions and propositions
Will not be granted, then be not daunted,
We will our honest old customs enjoy;
Paul's not rejected, will be respected,
And in the quier voices rise higher,
Thanks to the heavens, and cry, VIVE LE ROY.
Do not forget John Cook - the only lawyer brave enough to put the case against the tyrant Charles while the rest of the bar fled London
Of course on the restoration was hung, drawn and quartered
A Cavalier - "a Child of Honour, a Gentleman well borne and bred, that loves his king for conscience sake, of a clearer countenance, and bolder look than other men, because of a more loyal Heart."
Here's to day two of more royalist pomp and ceremony :) <:-P <:-P <:-P <:-P <:-P
God save the Queen :-bd

Hmm - perhaps a slight generalisation? Not entirely sure HRH goes around doing this kind of thing...unless you've got evidence to the contrary? :-\
I find it bizarre though that this hotel, with this particular individual's notoriety & track record, would even entertain the idea of not taking any payment for such a large contingent and for such a long period of time. Strange business model - makes me want to try & check in without passing over a card, just an 'official' looking "payment will follow" document from the Harwood principality :D
Just spent all morning in the rain helping assemble the fete - back out soon to enjoy more blitz spirit festivities :)

And so to day 3... wish I had half her energy ;)
Long may she reign! =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

When Windsor Castle had that big fire the HRH initially wanted the taxpayer to foot the 40 million odd restoration cost. Ie we pay to restore her own privately owned residence. The solution she came up with was for her to charge for people to visit Buckinghamn Palace - A building owned by the Country and not actually hers to charge an entrance fee for!!!!
Likewise many of the treasures in the Royal Collection that we don't get to seev may well belong to the country
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2002/may/30/jubilee.education
Then we have the question of the root of the Monarchys wealth - The huge assests stripped from the church and other private individuals by her ancestors - Ie disollution of the monastaries by Henry lllV
How did "Freeloading Fergie" and "Airmiles Andy" get their names if not by abusing their position.
So while our royalty may not be so flagrant about it, they is a strong case that they do.
Then there are the Duke and Duchess of Kent who have a Seven Bedroom , Nine reception room apartment at Buckingham palace that they pay less than 1% of the real rent for !. They dont perform any royal duties - so whty do they get this at our expense ?

Really well - brought the whole village together in a way I haven't seen since I first moved here. Slightly annoying that it looks today we'll be dismantling everything in the sunshine >:(

Some random comments from another forum that I found amusing :)
- HRH Prince Philipp looks remarkably spruce and sprightly for a man of almost 91. Must be the way he gets the snide remarks out of his system now and then.
- Anyway, I waved the Union Jack, and here's a health to Her Majesty. Live long and prosper.
- We in the colonies dont mind old Betts. The only difference if you are a republican is you would expect the queen to get her own beer out of the fridge.
- I reckon myself as completely anti-royalist but I'd be happy to have Aragorn as king.
- She did drive a lorry in ww2 loves the outdoors and I believe old Betts knows her way around a shottie too. They are closet rednecks if there ever was. Also out of all the monarchs in the world she would be second choice of Royal in the zombie survival party. Bloodnut Harry being first choice.
:D
Madness on the top of Buckingham Palace?!

For the doubters amongst us in the UK .. replacing the Monarch would mean we have to have yet another round of voting for a President, assuming the third English Civil War has come to a conclusion. Then we'd end up with someone like George Bush or Sarkozy!
I'll remain loyal to the Crown and look forward to marching with Rupert and his descendants ... what ho!
And I'll be amnning the barricades against that march! :P

True we might, but we would not be lumbered with paying for all thier Siblings Uncles, Aunties, and third neice removed. and having to pay for said family for hundreds of years. We could alos get rid of them at the end of term.

Like we don't get lumbered with paying politicians wages...?
And expenses for duck ponds, second homes, waiters tips and callgirls/rent boys :-\
And somehow when we have the 'tenacity' to question what they do and hold them accountable they sweep the issue under the carpet, blame the voter, remove the funding from every qwango that is there to hold them accountable, make out 'were all in it together' and then carry on exactly where they left off :d
We could have a benign Dictatorship as a complete alternative....
The sort of chap/chapess that gives the people exactly what they want before they know they want it !
I'd vote for him/her....Sorry...No forgot....Don't have a say any more do I ? ;) ;) ;)
Let's get away from this shall we ?

Hear, hear. I don't give a rat's a*se who's nominally in charge of the country so long as stay out of my life. The best that can be said of the Windsors is that they're not in a postion to enact legislation.

Considering Torry ideas for removing free school meals for the most vulnerable in our "society" (aka children) I daresay the Royals cannot be any worse. And that bs is just ONE of the things Mr Camoron has in his mind.
Seconding your view of "staying out of my life" as long as there is no interference with other peoples life. Your privacy stops where my begins. Life and let life and for gods sake use your brains before you spend gazillions on bonuses and
other undeserved transactions.
Yes but the uniforms are nicer!
