Title: Malburian army packs
Post by: Ferb on 20 April 2012, 08:40:57 AM
Hi all,

Just added a post to my blog (http://ferbsfightingforces.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/10mm-war-of-spanish-succession-armies.html) about the Malburian army packs I'm going to use with the new Maurice rules.

I've just been reading up on the Marlburians and am tempted at the moment, but is that just another whim? The simplicity of uniforms and colours at this scale is appealing. 10mm seems a good option and I'll follow this one closely. How do the Maurice rules base up? Could you get away with  4 x 40mmx40mm bases per inf battalion/regt and similar for cav? That would produce units that are geneic enough for most rule systems of the period.

There's a lite version of the Maurice rules available as a free download here (http://www.sammustafa.com/honour/downloads/) which has more info. But Maurice uses measurements in Base-Widths (BWs), so that you may use any figure sizes, and any bases that you already have, or wish to have. The game adjusts to accommodate your table space and collection.

Hope that helps,

Ferb,

I've gone one better and found this blog: http://wargaming.info/ which is probably linked here somewhere in this forum. It tempted me to download the LITE rules and even buy from North Star. That's the hard part done, just need to buy, paint, base and box a few armies.

Ah ... forgot I already have Harwood's 45 Jacobites that I bought earlier this year. Time to move some boxes in the loft, ho hum.

40x40 bases would certainly work and will please Leon as you will need loads of figures!

The rules define squarish bases, and measurements are in base widths so you can choose the size.
